Ousmane Dembele has undoubtedly been the best player for Paris Saint-Germain this season. Following PSG’s maiden Champions League win on Saturday, calls for him to win the Ballon d’Or have been growing louder.
And rightly so, given the kind of impact Dembele has had. The French forward has appeared in 51 matches, scoring an impressive 33 goals and providing 15 assists.
Although Dembele had a slow start to the season, he came into his own in the second half, scoring 25 goals and providing five assists. Since the beginning of 2025 no other player in Europe’s top leagues has been involved in more goal contributions than the Frenchman.
Recently, while speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former PSG midfielder and Dembele’s international teammate Adrien Rabiot was asked who should win the Ballon d’Or this year. He was quick to make his pick and responded:
“For me, Dembélé deserves the Ballon d’Or.
“He won the Champions League and was consistently decisive on the pitch.”
Dembele has won the Best Player of the Season Award from UEFA for his contributions in the Champions League. The Frenchman, who was labelled a 'Barcelona flop' not too long ago, has proven the world wrong. He has silenced his critics and emerged as the best player this season, making a strong case for the Ballon d’Or award. It remains to be seen if he manages to win it as well, adding another trophy to his cabinet. One that not many would have predicted.
