After his team's logical and deserved victory at Nice (4-0), PSG coach Luis Enrique savored how the success was achieved on Ligue 1+. He liked what he saw from his team, and he will now worry about his players leaving for national team duty.
Q: Congratulations on the big 4-0 win. You needed to respond after Lens' big win on Friday, and you did, and you did it well here.
A: "Of course. It was difficult. Every time we play here, it's a complicated match. Today, I think we were very precise because it's difficult to play after the Champions League, on the mental side. It's normal to be very excited when you play a Champions League match and then return to league competition, but it's difficult. But today, Lens continues to push us and has a chance to win this league title. And for us, it was an obligation to win today. We're very happy. There are many positive things. There are many players who don't get minutes but took advantage of this opportunity, like Beraldo, Dro, and others. I'm especially happy."
Q: And coach, congratulations. We saw you extremely happy on Dro Fernandez's goal. You turned around with a point. That came from here. What does it mean?
A: "Not only because of Dro. From all the players, it's important. For an 18-year-old, scoring his first goal is important. I'm very happy to see players working every day, thinking about how to improve the team. For me as a coach, this type of victory is very important because it strengthens the team. That's why I'm very happy."
Q: Full of confidence, your team in this final sprint, at the best time, physically. You are impressive. The score, obviously, reminds you that you are one of the best European teams. And you are again very much in contention on all fronts. Are all systems go for this end-of-season?
A: "That's what we've all been waiting for all season. This moment is key. It's the most important moment, because it's the time to finish and to realize what the trophy is. It's important for us. This is the last international break before the World Cup. But for us as a team, it will be important to see how they return. I will be afraid these next 10 days to see what condition the players return in. We will prepare for the next match against Toulouse and then the Champions League."
