Key players' availability hangs in the balance as Monaco faces crucial injury doubts before their high-stakes PSG clash.

In addition to a cascade of injuries and already confirmed absences, AS Monaco has three important players uncertain on the eve of facing PSG in the Champions League playoff first leg, as announced Monday by its Belgian coach, Sebastien Pocognoli.

PSG communicated its 21-man squad for the showdown against Monaco on Tuesday night in the Champions League playoff first leg. Quentin Ndjantou, Fabian Ruiz and Senny Mayulu are absent, while Joao Neves and Ousmane Dembele are indeed making the trip, despite their minor physical issues at Rennes last Friday.

And AS Monaco? Sebastien Pocognoli was in a press conference Monday afternoon in Monaco and was asked from the start about the health status of Maghnes Akliouche and Lamine Camara, respectively injured in the hip and Achilles tendon against Nantes Friday night.

"Maghnes is uncertain. He has to test himself today; we still have a training session tomorrow morning. So that's the news regarding him. Lamine is also uncertain. Ansu (Fati) also has to test himself today, so we potentially have three uncertain players," the Monaco coach said, who then confirmed the absence of his central defender Christian Mawissa, back from injury but still too short.

Mawissa is, however, not the only confirmed absentee on the Monaco side as numerous other players have been injured for several weeks and will be absent Tuesday night against PSG: they are Mohammed Salisu, Takumi Minamino and Paul Pogba, removed from Monaco's UEFA list, as well as Lukas Hradecky, Eric Dier, Pape Cabral and Kassoum Ouattara.

Absentees for Monaco vs. PSG with one day to go:

  • Injured (11): Ndjantou, Ruiz, Mayulu, Salisu, Minamino, Pogba, Hradecky, Dier, Cabral, Ouattara, Mawissa.
  • Uncertain (3): Akliouche, Camara, Fati.
