Courted this winter by Olympique Lyonnais and Strasbourg, Paris Saint-Germain defender Noham Kamara has a new suitor in the Bundesliga, and a significant one: Bayer Leverkusen.
Launched as a pro by Luis Enrique last season, will Axel Tape and Noham Kamara find themselves together at Bayer Leverkusen? With the transfer window closing this Monday, Kamara is still in Paris for the moment, but is now attracting interest from the German club, according to Foot Mercato.
This information was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, who specifies that discussions are ongoing between PSG and Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer and not a loan, with Paris apparently open to parting ways permanently with its young, 19-year-old player.
Turned professional last July, Noham Kamara can play both as a center-back and further up the pitch. His current contract runs until June 2028, and he has made only one appearance with the first team this season, against Fontenay in the Coupe de France round of 64 (plus a few appearances on the bench in Ligue 1).
Also used in the Youth League and with the PSG Under-21 team in the Premier League International Cup, Kamara is also of interest to Olympique Lyonnais and Strasbourg this winter, but according to Foot Mercato, Bayer Leverkusen is in the lead for this deal.
The German club currently occupies sixth place in the Bundesliga and finished 16th in the Champions League league phase.
Coached by Kasper Hjulmand, Bayer Leverkusen will face Olympiacos in the Champions League playoffs next month. Kamara would be eligible to play in those playoffs if Leverkusen signs him and registers him on its list.
His former teammate Axel Tape, 18, has played seven matches this season with the German club before being hampered by a hamstring injury and then muscular problems. He has been back in the Bayer squad for a few weeks but has not had any playing time since Dec. 20.
