A viral rumor falsely claimed Luis Enrique wanted to leave PSG. Club official Luis Campos vehemently denies the fabrication, confirming the coach's commitment.

The web erupted on Tuesday evening after an announcement, via an English-language X account, about Luis Enrique's desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain. This account cited the German tabloid Bild as a source and was widely shared. It was, in fact, fake news, which Luis Campos confirmed that evening.

PSG arrived in Kuwait on Tuesday evening to prepare for its Trophee des Champions match against Olympique de Marseille, and during its flight, a wild rumor agitated social media. On Tuesday, a small English-language X account that covers Liverpool and the German national team tweeted in English that Luis Enrique did not want to extend his contract and wished to leave PSG, in search of a new challenge.

This account, followed by 12,300 people and whose name will be withheld to avoid giving it further publicity, cited the German tabloid Bild as a source and was subsequently widely picked up by several large English-language accounts, themselves followed by hundreds of thousands of people.

PSG Official Debunks Viral Luis Enrique Departure Rumor

These tweets generated millions of impressions on X (Twitter), but after verification, Bild never published such information about Luis Enrique, either on its website, its social media, or in its print version. Nothing on SportBild either.

It was thus, purely and simply, a false tweet, an invention, fake news, probably to generate money on X, all in a context where Manchester United has just parted ways with Ruben Amorim and where Arne Slot is under pressure at Liverpool. Via Olivier Tallaron, a journalist for Canal+, Luis Campos confirmed Tuesday evening that the Luis Enrique rumor was "100% fake news."

For the record, the Spanish coach extended his contract in February 2025 until June 2027 with PSG after reaching an agreement with the club several months earlier. Following his extension, Luis Enrique achieved a historic sextuple with his staff and players. While the Asturian will indeed leave PSG one day, it is clearly not for the time being.
