On the eve of the Paris Saint-Germain vs. Olympique de Marseille clash, the likely lineups for the Trophée des Champions (French Super Cup) are becoming clearer and align closely with those we anticipated on Tuesday, notably with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia over Bradley Barcola on the left side of the Parisian attack.
The 2025 Trophée des Champions match between PSG and Marseille will be played this Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, starting at 7 p.m. French time (1:00 p.m. ET) in Kuwait, at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium, where only 5,000 tickets would remain (out of 60,000) according to the latest reports from RMC Sport. As for the probable lineups for this second "Classique" of the season, they are taking shape.
On the PSG side, Luis Enrique is still without Achraf Hakimi and Ibrahim Mbaye, who are at the Africa Cup of Nations, and the injured Matvey Safonov, Lee Kang-in, Quentin Ndjantou, and David Boly. While there is little doubt in defense and midfield, with Marquinhos expected to replace Ilya Zabarnyi compared to the last match against Paris FC, the name of the third Parisian forward remains to be confirmed.
Barring a surprise, Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé will indeed start the PSG-OM clash, but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola, and even Senny Mayulu (starter last Sunday) are competing for the final spot. In our probable lineups from Tuesday, we leaned more towards the Georgian, who was rested before the break against Fontenay, before staying on the bench for the Paris derby after taking a knock in training two days prior.
But the Trophée des champions is a match for a title, and since Kvara is not injured and has had time to prepare well, he is expected to start this Thursday against Marseille. A view shared by the daily newspaper L'Equipe this Wednesday morning, with one more training session still to be held today for Luis Enrique's men, starting at 6 p.m.
PSG's predicted lineup vs. Marseille: Chevalier; Zaïre-Emery, Marquinhos (c), Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doué, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia.
On the Marseille side, Roberto De Zerbi will be without Nayef Aguerd, also at the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as his midfielders Arthur Vermeeren and Bilal Nadir, who are in Kuwait but suspended. Leonardo Balerdi, who was ill and unavailable last weekend against Nantes, is fit for the clash against PSG and trained normally on Tuesday. According to L'Equipe, the Argentine captain of OM should be able to keep his place.
Even if it remains to be confirmed, a three-man defense seems likely for Marseille, according to the sports daily, with Benjamin Pavard and Facundo Medina supporting Balerdi. L'Equipe, however, has doubts in midfield between Geoffrey Kondogbia and Matt O'Riley, as well as in attack between Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Amine Gouiri. The Algerian international started against PSG last Sept. 22 in Ligue 1 and just made his major return from injury against Nantes on Sunday.
Marseille's predicted lineup vs. PSG: Rulli; Pavard, Balerdi (c), Medina; Weah, Hojbjerg, Kondogbia (or O'Riley), Emerson; Greenwood, Aubameyang (or Gouiri), Paixão.
