Following a surprising defeat, Vitinha calls for unity and better passing, urging teammates to prioritize team success over individual glory.

Paris Saint-Germain lost to Rennes last night in the opening match of the 22nd round of Ligue 1. Like Dembele, Vitinha sent a message to his teammates.

While PSG could have temporarily taken a five-point lead at the top of Ligue 1, they could see Lens reclaim first place with a win tonight at Paris FC.

Following the French capital club's defeat against Rennes on Friday (3-1), Ousmane Dembele criticized some individualistic behavior. Speaking in the mixed zone after PSG's loss, Vitinha also warned his teammates.

Vitinha Issues Warning to Teammates Following Rennes Loss

"We're ready for criticism, that's not the issue. We'll talk about it amongst ourselves; some things worked, others didn't. I know everyone wants to score, but sometimes you have to pass the ball to teammates who are better positioned. I'm not targeting anyone. I can't imagine anyone on this team only thinking about themselves. But we'll discuss it amongst ourselves to fix what didn't work and be ready for the next match."

The PSG No. 17 then addressed the defeat against Rennes. "It wasn't the result we were expecting. We didn't play badly. We also have to acknowledge Rennes' good performance. But even if Rennes played the game of their lives, we have to win with the team and the level we have."

PSG's defensive midfielder delivered one of his typical Ligue 1 performances, unfortunately in a somewhat lackluster version. After a very quiet start to the match, he seemed to get going by sending some magnificent long and medium-range passes, but that did not last. On the contrary, he even had wastefulness when Rennes set up in a low block. And his defensive activity was poor overall.
