Paris navigates a difficult Coupe de France draw, facing an amateur side on a professional pitch just days after a global final.

The match for the 32nd finals of the French Cup between Vendee Fontenay Football and Paris Saint-Germain will ultimately be played in a Ligue 1 stadium, that of FC Nantes, but the fixture was scheduled just three days after the Intercontinental Cup in Doha

PSG fared rather well in the draw for the 32nd finals of the French Cup conducted last Monday at the Parc des Princes, with a matchup against Vendee Fontenay Foot, a fifth division (N3) team.

And Paris will not fall into the trap of a poor amateur field that levels the playing field, since the Vendee Fontenay vs. PSG game will be played at the Beaujoire stadium in Nantes, therefore on a professional pitch, the amateur club just announced on its Facebook page.

Initially there were doubts about where this match would be played, because it involved an amateur team, but the venue has now been decided.

PSG Gets Amateur Draw in French Cup, But Match Moves to Ligue 1 Venue

What is, however, far more concerning for this upcoming Vendee Fontenay vs. PSG is the date chosen by the French Football Federation for the game.

While Paris will play its Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday, January 17, in Doha against Flamengo, Cruz Azul, or Pyramids, the match against Vendee Fontenay was scheduled for Saturday at 8:50 p.m.

That is barely three days after a match on the other side of the planet, even though a Sunday evening time slot existed.

Regarding the TV broadcast of this Vendee Fontenay vs. PSG match, beIN Sports 1 will handle it locally, theoretically without a co-broadcast on a public channel.

Although for many this cup is a secondary competition, Luis Enrique has made it clear in his first two seasons that he takes it seriously.

The French Cup has historically always "belonged" to PSG, so the supporters – from the most relaxed to the most radical – always expect to see their team lift this trophy.

It can also be a good opportunity to see more of those players who are known to be good but do not get many minutes due to the high competition in the roster, such as Senny Mayulu, Kang-In Lee, Goncalo Ramos, Ricardo Marin, Noham Kamara, etc.

However, the Intercontinental Cup also carries some weight for the supporters, as it would represent only the fourth international title in the history of the Parisian club. The Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup are the only ones currently on the club's list of honors.
