Paris Saint-Germain is hoping to win the Champions League for the first time, but a gritty and battle-hardened Inter Milan team stands in their way in Saturday's final in Munich.
PSG, the eventual finalists and French league winners, defeated Bayern Munich, preventing them from making it to a home final. The Parisians, led by Luis Enrique, are vying for their first European championship; their best finish was second place in Lisbon in 2020.
On the other hand, Italian powerhouses Inter, led by coach Simone Inzaghi, are making their second Champions League final appearance in three years after missing out on retaining their Scudetto championship.
Surprisingly, this will be PSG and Inter's first competitive encounter, and it will take place on the largest platform of all– the Champions League final.
PSG and Inter have only ever played each other in friendlies, with the most recent meeting taking place in August 2023, which ended in a loss for PSG.
There has been a pattern in the last six finals– the team that scores first, wins without conceding. An astonishing fact about the Champions League finals held in Munich is that whenever a UCL final has taken place there, a new team has emerged winner in the competition.
Will history repeat again, and PSG may emerge as the fifth different team to win the tournament?
