Ndjantou celebrates his breakthrough goal, crediting coach and teammate for their trust and crucial assist in PSG's hard-fought victory.
In the context of the 16th matchday of the 2025/26 Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain traveled to Metz this Saturday, and the Parisians won (3-2).
Goncalo Ramos and Quentin Ndjantou scored in the first half, Desire Doue at the hour mark, but Metz came back twice and pushed until the last second. Paris did the main job, with a reshuffled team at that, but poorly managed the end of the game.
After scoring his first professional goal, young Ndjantou thanked after the win at Metz both his coach and his decisive passer, whom he himself had made shine exactly a week ago.
The 2025/26 PSG is the team in Europe with the most different scorers in the league, and a newcomer added himself to the list this Saturday at Metz. Just after the half-hour mark, Quentin Ndjantou surged into the middle of the Metz box to send a well-controlled tap-in into the back of the net after a perfect cross from Mbaye. A goal that would count, as Paris only won by one goal in Lorraine, suffering at the end of the game.
So, naturally, in an interview with Ligue 1+, the very young Quentin Ndjantou was delighted, despite leaving the field just after the hour mark: "I am very happy first, very happy with the victory. We won collectively, and we were good. We knew how to defend well despite Metz's attacks. It was a very complicated match, but we knew how to win this match; we showed character. And today, I am very happy to have scored this goal."
Prompted about this first professional goal, the 18-year-old relay midfielder completed his thought: "First, to be on this field, to play, I am very, very happy. And I thank the coach again for trusting me today." Luis Enrique does not hesitate to use him, even starting him in the Champions League, and Ndjantou, whom he had called "sensational" after the goal against Tottenham, continues to earn points, match after match. After the match, the coach praised "a particularity of our club, to give confidence to the young players when we think they have quality. Today, they played well."
In an interview with PSG TV, Ndjantou also spoke of his "great pride" before slipping in a word for his decisive passer, his academy friend Ibrahim Mbaye: "I thank my teammates, including Ibrahim Mbaye, for the assist." Last week against Rennes (5-0), it was Ndjantou who had served Mbaye when he scored his first L1 goal: "He returned the favor nicely, I am very happy with his match, with my match, and with the collective performance. We were very good and very strong together." But it is truly the two youngsters who are among the best.
