In addition to achieving a historic sextuple and becoming the first French club to win the Intercontinental Cup, Paris Saint-Germain also snatched a badge from Real Madrid after its victory over Flamengo, which did not prevent the Spanish club from congratulating Luis Enrique's team.
That is likely not the element Luis Enrique emphasized during his pre-match talk before the PSG vs. Flamengo final this Wednesday. But in addition to marking club and French football history, PSG also reclaimed a badge from Real Madrid thanks to its penalty shootout victory over the Brazilians in the Intercontinental Cup (1-1, 2-1 on penalties). In a show of fair play, the Spanish club congratulated PSG on social media: "Congratulations to PSG, its president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, its coach Luis Enrique, its players and all its supporters for the well-deserved Intercontinental Cup title," Real Madrid tweeted.
Since this season, Kylian Mbappe's club has been sporting the golden badge of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup winner on the front of its jerseys. A trophy won by Real Madrid last year after a 3-0 victory over Pachuca in the final. Without a badge for the second half of the 2024/2025 season, Real had been playing since the start of the 2025/2026 campaign with this golden badge featuring the Intercontinental Cup trophy, the words "Intercontinental Champions," and the year. A badge worn in La Liga as well as in the Champions League.
As confirmed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino before the PSG vs. Flamengo final, the winner of the Intercontinental Cup will take over the badge from Real Madrid and will have the right to wear it for the entire duration of its reign, meaning for one year.
The question remains when PSG will wear this Intercontinental Cup winner badge. It likely won't be as early as this weekend in the Coupe de France against Vendee Fontenay Foot, as PSG already wears a silver badge as the defending champion in that competition (see photo below), while other teams wear a blue badge.
After its Champions League final victory on May 31 last year, PSG decided to display a star above its crest to celebrate its European champion title. A star worn during the Club World Cup last summer, in the Champions League this season, and also during the European Super Cup against Tottenham on August 13 (but not in domestic competitions). This Wednesday against Flamengo, PSG also had the star above its logo on its home jersey.
The Intercontinental Cup badge is already available in the PSG online store. You can add it to all available jerseys from this season, whether in the stadium or match version. For the stadium home version, sold at 99.99 euros, it costs an additional 8 euros for the simple Intercontinental Cup badge and an additional 16 euros if you also want the star above the logo, plus the European Champion badge on the sleeve, and the UEFA foundation logo.
For the stadium version, sold at 149.99 euros, it also costs an additional 8 euros to add the Intercontinental Cup badge and 16 euros for the package that also includes the star and the European champion badge, plus the UEFA foundation badge.
