Celebrations have started in the French capital after Paris Saint-German secured their maiden Champions League trophy following a dominant 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final.
The coach and the entire squad deserve all the praise, having played incredible football throughout the season. Whether in defence, midfield, or attack, PSG were strong in every area of the pitch.
The PSG fans were brilliant as well, not just this season, when triumphs are aplenty, but also during the tough times when the club faced hardships. They have waited patiently for the coveted European trophy, and now they can join in the celebrations as PSG are crowned the best team in Europe.
Following yesterday’s win, PSG star Vitinha dedicated the Champions League trophy to the fans. In an interview with Reuters, he said:
"It means everything. The fans are the main reason we wanted to win this trophy but we wanted it for a lot of reasons. It’s our dream, it’s my dream and I’m glad we made it. The win says a lot about this group of players. It’s a very good team and the result is not by magic. Now we are going to celebrate.”
Vitinha has been a regular this season and instrumental in PSG’s success. The Portuguese playmaker featured in all of their Champions League matches, scoring two goals and providing as many assists.
PSG have become only the second French team to win the Champions League. This could well be the dawn of a new golden era for the club, considering the quality of their current squad.
