Despite the initial setback at missing out on an England squad position for the World Cup, AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is embracing the opportunity to work alongside the England senior squad as preparations begin for the 2026 World Cup.
Although the 22-year-old was not named in Thomas Tuchel’s final 26-man tournament squad, announced yesterday, he has been included in the wider preparation group ahead of this summer’s competition in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Tuchel admittedly that Scott he was close to making the cut but absolutely jumped at the chance to be involved in the way he will be. Scott clearly impressed Thomas with his attitude and Cherries fans believe that, despite the disappointment, it will only serve to be a positive thing for him.
Having already enjoyed international success with England at both under-19 and under-21 level, Scott now has the chance to push for a senior debut in upcoming friendlies against New Zealand on June 6 and Costa Rica on June 10.
