Furious season ticket holders are demanding a fairer priority system after the 'Global Cherries' membership rules allowed first-time fans to leapfrog loyal supporters for tickets to the high-demand European away fixtures of Sparta Prague, and below is how that issue can be resolved.
There has been a lot of backlash about the 'Global Cherries' scheme and how it seems unfair that loyal Cherries supporters who are season ticket holders and have 12 away points missed out on Sparta Prague away tickets.
The demand for Prague was always going to be extreme, with high points holders knowing they were going to be in a race with others to snatch up the available tickets. However, when there have been fans who have never been to a game before that can go to Prague as their first ever game, has caused a lot of frustration.
There should always be a clear pecking order with who gets priority for tickets, and Global Cherries can be a clear addition to that, without compromising the chances of the people with a higher amount of away/home points. Below will be an explanation of how this would work.
IMAGO / SportimageThe top of the priority for away tickets should remain the same, with the same drops of 10 points, 7 points, 4 points then 1 point being a great method to use for the Premier League games.
However, there could be scope for an extra drop after the 1+ drop, before general sale. The 1+ away point drop for Premier League games is exactly 1 week after the first 10+ points drop, with general sale starting 2 days after on the Thursday. Personally, I would replace the general sale date with a new 'Global Cherries' drop, and move the general sale drop back by 2 days.
This will then mean that Global Cherries will have a chance to get away tickets for the games that don't sell out at 1+ away point, and will therefore be able to get their away points up as well.
IMAGO / Jan Huebner Global Cherries seem to be treated differently by the club, as they have to enter a separate 'ballot' to get both home and away tickets. However, if their access to tickets was added in as effectively an extra segment of the points drops before general sale, that would create equal opportunities for all supporters to get away tickets.
Success on the pitch when combined with signing young talents like Rayan and Junior Kroupi will naturally bring more eyes towards AFCB, and will result in an increase in fans from all across the globe, and instead of getting a certain percentage of tickets to each away game, being included in the back end of the points drops will lead to a more satisfied fanbase, as well as a chance to expand the fanbase with it's international fans.
