Player ratings as Arsenal were embarrassingly eliminated from this season's Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two's Fleetwood Town on penalties.
Arsenal will return to North London completely humiliated after losing to Fleetwood Town on penalties in the Carabao Cup. It was the first time the sides had faced each other in a competitive fixture.
There are 84 places between the sides in the pyramid, making it one of the biggest upsets in EFL Cup history.
Starting XI:
Illan Meslier - 6
Had very little to do during the game. Only faced just the one shot and that found its way into the back of the net. He will probably be disappointed that he failed to keep a clean sheet on his first Arsenal game.
Jurriën Timber - 4
A difficult evening for Timber. His overlapping runs were ineffective and when he attempted to link up play when going forward, nothing was coming off and overall it was a below par display by the Dutchman.
Marli Salmon - 4
The teenager was at fault for the Fleetwood goal. He struggled to deal with what was a pretty simple task during that moment and it put the visitors ahead. He had little to do for the remainder of the game.
Cristhian Mosquera - 5
He was caught on the ball a few times and also gave away some silly fouls but overall it wasn't a poor performance from the Spaniard. Similar to Salmon, he had a quiet evening in terms of dealing with any attacks from Fleetwood.
Piero Hincapié - 3
I thought this was one of Hincapie's worst performances in an Arsenal shirt. He delivered some decent crosses into the box but some of his movement, passes and overall positioning was very poor.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - 4
He struggled to control the game like he usually does and he clearly looked uncomfortable. He had some tame efforts at goal and made some adequate passes but it was a game Lewis-Skelly won't want to watch back anytime soon.
Martin Zubimendi - 6
Zubimendi was decent tonight. He cleaned up a lot of mess in the middle of the park, made some nice progressive passes and showed a lot more maturity than the rest of the team and maybe its a message to Mikel Arteta that he should be involved more.
Max Dowman - 2
Not his night at all tonight. He struggled to beat his man, missed a golden opportunity in the first half and was eventually sent off in the last five minutes for violent conduct. A learning curve for the 16-year-old.
Kai Havertz - 1
Maybe this is harsh but Havertz was woeful tonight. Missed a handful of big chances that he really should be scoring, looked totally unbothered throughout and ultimately was one of the key factors on why Arsenal failed to win.
Ceadach O'Neill - 5
He tried his best and at times showed some real quality. His end product was definitely lacking which was a shame. He failed to build a partnership with Hincapie which hindered how well either of those players could perform. He can still hold his head high.
Viktor Gyökeres - 6
Tried his best and worked hard. His hold up play was solid and he was always keen on making things happen. He equalised early in the second half which eventually took the game to spot kicks. He should feel very disappointed if he doesn't start at Anfield.
Substitutes:
Martin Ødegaard - 8
Changed the game. Showed a real captain's performance and dragged Arsenal back into the contest. Created some fantastic chances and will be hugely frustrated to be on the losing side of the game.
Ben White - 5
Another standard display from White. He should've scored at the end but the Fleetwood goalkeeper made a top save. His passing was okay at times and he gifted a silly corner at the end. He look more comfortable than Timber though.
Eberechi Eze - 5
Didn't have long to affect the game. Looked spirited on the left side but failed to create anything massive. He should have come on a lot earlier.
Ezri Konsa - N/A
Came on with eight minutes to play and had very little to do.
Bruno Guimarães - N/A
Again, came on very late and had not a lot going on. Missed the crucial penalty which was disappointing.
Arsenal travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Sunday and will certainly need a stronger performance.
