Player ratings as Noni Madueke’s late deflected strike saw Arsenal leave Nottingham Forest with all three points.
Arsenal came away with a 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, as super-sub Noni Madueke scored a sensational game-winner in the 80th minute to ensure the Gunners travel back to London with an all-important three points.
Starting XI:
David Raya - 7
Raya didn't have to do much as Nottingham Forest failed to really trouble his goal. However, he deserves credit for having incredibly safe hands when it comes to snatching corners and crosses from out of the air.
It's not as crazy as a fingertip save, but the level of consistency he has when opponents sling the ball in from the wide areas is impressive.
Benjamin White - 6
Not his usual self when it comes to being an attacking threat, but did a solid job defensively today. There wasn't much threat on the wings, but he tucked in nicely when required.
Ezri Konsa - 7
Konsa handled the physical threat that comes with playing against Liam Delap like it was nothing. The centre-back was assured at the back and passed the ball forward really nicely.
He's truly proven to be a fantastic signing for the team, especially with Saliba still recovering from his back injury.
Gabriel Magalhães - 7
Much like Konsa, the Brazilian had to handle the physical threat that Liam Delap brings to the table. Luckily for Arsenal fans, Gabriel Magalhães is exceptional at doing just that. He also had a chance in the box that he could've done a lot better with, but no-one can doubt his defensive work.
Riccardo Calafiori - 5
Usually Calafiori is one of Arsenal's best players, but he felt a little bit out of sync with everyone else today. Maybe it was because Eze didn't really play that well ahead of him, but it felt like he wasn't causing the same sort of nuisance for the opposition that he usually does.
Bruno Guimarães - 6
Although he didn't produce another moment of magic, Guimarães didn't do anything to warrant a terrible rating. Arsenal bought a player who isn't afraid to pass the ball forward early and that's what he attempted to do today.
The execution was a little off today, but once he finds some level of consistency he could create a lot more chances for the Gunners.
Declan Rice - 7
Rice is so reliable defensively, it must make things so much easier for his teammates. There were multiple times during the match where it looked like Forest were in, but Rice was there to snuff out the danger.
Martin Ødegaard - 6
The captain didn't impact play as much as he would've liked, but he was able to dictate play and ensure that Arsenal maintained their press during more difficult moments. I would've liked to have seen him further up the pitch more.
Bukayo Saka - 6
He had a slightly better game than Eze, but the bar is relatively low on that. When he had opportunities to be one-on-one with the defender he showed glimpses of the "old Saka".
If Arsenal can find a way to help him avoid being double-teamed then we might see him be more of an attacking threat. Sadly, that attacking threat was non-existent during this match.
Eberechi Eze - 5
Despite his attempts at being effective with the ball, Eze had very little impact in the 45 minutes he was on the pitch. This will be tough for any fan who had high hopes for him following his performance against Lille.
Eze needs to find some consistency fast as the clock is ticking on his Arsenal career.
Kai Havertz - 5
This was one of those games where Havertz goes missing. He had a few nice touches and linked up with his teammates well, but there wasn't enough from him in the box to warrant this being classed as a "good game".
If he wants to score 25 goals in a season like Arteta believes he can then he'll need to have much better games than this.
Substitutes:
Noni Madueke - 8
Arsenal have auditions for their left-hand side and Noni Madueke made sure he gave a fantastic account of himself. Not only did he score a fantastic goal to ensure that Arsenal come away from the City Ground with three points, but he did something Eze was unable to do and that was to be a consistent threat.
Jurriën Timber - 6
Came on for Benjamin White and locked down Arsenal's defence. Other than Murillo's late run at the end, he did a good job of killing their right side.
Mikel Merino - 6
Merino didn't do much, but looked classy on the ball as ever. I'm not sure if he's better in midfield or as a striker, but as long as he's on the pitch he'll bring something to the game.
Viktor Gyökeres - 6
Ran his socks off and got in some good positions. Although he didn't score, it was a pretty solid outing from the Swede.
Arsenal face a stiff test in their next encounter as they travel to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, 21 October 2026.
