0%Arsenal are increasing their scouting intensity ahead of the January transfer window as they send scouts to watch Andrea Cambiaso live.
According to a recent HandOfArsenal report, Arsenal’s data team have been 'highly impressed' with the numbers produced by the Juventus defender, so much so that the club have now sent scouts to Italy to further their information on him.
The report did state that any potential deal is still far from reality but Arsenal are starting to build a strong admiration for the 26-year-old fullback. HandOfArsenal also added that Juventus ‘adore’ the player, meaning any potential deal would not come easily or cheaply.
Cambiaso is a versatile fullback, having played both right-back and left-back for Juventus. He’s now into his fourth full season at the club, racking up 134 appearances in that time.
The Italy international has only played 31 minutes in Serie A for Juventus this season, after an ankle sprain ruled him out for the whole of September. However, based on his numbers in the 2025/26 season, it’s clear to see why the data team are such big fans.
Cambiaso ranked in the top 10 per cent for Serie A defenders for both chances created and big chances created per 90 minutes. Surprisingly, he won less than half of his duels in Italy's top-flight last season, an uncharacteristically low figure for a defender linked to Mikel Arteta's side.
The defender was previously linked to a Premier League switch to Manchester City in January 2025, with Pep Guardiola reportedly a big admirer of Cambiaso’s tactical versatility. It’s clear to see why he has so many admirers in football, his 24 goals and assists for Juventus in his three full seasons is amongst the best in Europe across that time.
Whether Arsenal need another defender is a completely different question. The £51m acquisition of Ezri Konsa in the summer meant that Arsenal had two senior players in each position in the backline.
Whilst Arsenal definitely have other areas in the squad that are in need of improvement, it’s important not to neglect other areas, even when they seem strong on numbers.
Jurriën Timber and Ben White have both suffered long-term injuries in their time in red and white, and Cambiaso could be seen as a potential reinforcement to bolster the defensive ranks.
Cristhian Mosquera and White were both linked with exits from Arsenal in the summer, and the club would be expected to replace either player should they depart north London.
