Mikel Arteta navigates a major injury blow to Bukayo Saka, handing Noni Madueke a rare start as the Gunners chase crucial points against a resilient Everton side.

Arsenal have announced their Starting XI for their fixture with Everton at the Emirates Stadium in matchday eight of the Premier League this afternoon.

Depending on the result of Aston Villa vs Manchester City, The Gunners have the potential to close the gap on Maresca’s side with a win this afternoon. Mikel Arteta has named four changes from the side that started the 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening in the Champions League, with Madueke replacing the injured Bukayo Saka who is set to be out for a MINIMUM of six weeks with a quad issue, Lewis Skelly coming in for Calafiori at left back, Merino partnering Rice in the midfield and Gyokeres getting his first Premier League start of the campaign.

The backline stays largely the same from Wednesday night, with Raya keeping his place in goal. Gabriel and Konsa form the centre-back partnership that have kept 3 clean sheets in the Premier League between them, with Lewis-Skelly coming in at left back. White keeps his place.

Into the midfield and Declan Rice keeps his place after a bright showing in Bavaria in midweek, netting the all important equalising goal. The England international is currently level top of the assist charts in the Premier League with four. Mikel Merino gets a rare start and Martin Ødegaard of course, starts in the number ten role and captains the side this afternoon.

Arsenal’s Starting XI: Raya, White, Gabriel, Konsa, Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Merino, Ødegaard, Eze, Gyökeres & Madueke

The Toffees won’t be looking to just make up the numbers at The Emirates Stadium this afternoon. David Moyes’ side sit comfortably in 9th in the Premier League table and have only registered one defeat so far this season, losing 2-0 to Chelsea last time out at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. They have also conceded the third least number of goals so far this season with seven, keeping three clean sheets in the Premier League so far.

With that being said, Moyes’ side will be without crucial defender Jarrod Branthwaite through injury. They will also be without Jack Grealish, who misses the game with a slight knock.

The fixture kicks off this afternoon at 3pm UK time, though it will not be televised in the UK.
