Eberechi Eze has agreed his forfeit celebration chosen by iShowSpeed after losing a best-of-three FIFA showdown with the YouTuber on Wednesday night.
Arsenal forward Eberechi Eze has agreed his next celebration with iShowSpeed after losing a dramatic FIFA showdown during the YouTuber’s livestream on Wednesday night.
The pair went head to head in a best-of-three contest, just a day after Eze scored his first goal of the season in Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League win over Lille.
They agreed that if the YouTuber came out victorious, Eze would have to perform a celebration of Speed's choosing. If the Arsenal man came out on top, however, Speed would have to release a public apology video for challenging Eze.
Eze raced into an early lead. Choosing Paris Saint-Germain for the opening game, he was quickly asked by Speed why he had not picked Arsenal, and replied with a laugh, ‘I will ride or die for my team, but on FIFA? I’m not sure about that!’
During the opening match, PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov made a save, prompting Eze to celebrate with, ‘That’s my goalkeeper!’, seemingly forgetting it was the same goalkeeper who saved his penalty in the shootout as Arsenal lost last season’s Champions League final.
Eze dominated the opener, leading 6-1 against Speed’s Real Madrid before the streamer quit the game in the 81st minute.
He switched to Arsenal for the second game against Barcelona, and found the net with both Viktor Gyökeres and Bukayo Saka. However, Speed responded in style, and Eze quit in the 82nd minute with the score at 5-2, setting up a decider.
The final game proved the most dramatic of the night. Speed raced into a 4-1 lead, leaving Eze visibly frustrated, and at half-time the Arsenal man accused his opponent of ‘moving like a cheater’.
Eze then mounted a stunning comeback in the closing stages, scoring three times in the final ten minutes to level at 4-4. However, Speed had the final say, scoring with the last kick of the game through former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
‘My head is gone!’ Eze said after the final whistle. ‘What’s the celebration? I can’t breathe!’
Speed initially suggested Kylian Mbappé’s famous folded-arms celebration, followed by a bounce on the floor. Eze was quick to reject the second part, saying the bounce was ‘berserk’ and begged him to 'stop doing that!'
The pair eventually settled on Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Sui’ celebration, followed by Speed’s trademark barking while tapping the Arsenal crest.
Eze made it clear the rivalry is far from over, insisting as he left, ‘It’s not done, I’ll tell you that for free!’
The pair also agreed to settle things on the track, with Eze confident he can beat Speed in a 60-metre race the next time the YouTuber is in London.
Arsenal travel to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, giving Eze the chance to perform the celebration in a Premier League match.
