The Belgian forward currently leads the World Cup in chance creation, outshining global stars as an Arsenal exit looms.

Leandro Trossard is producing one of the strongest creative campaigns of the World Cup at a time when his Arsenal future appears increasingly uncertain.

The Belgium forward has found the net twice and set up two more in his first five games, underlining his status as one of his country’s most effective attacking threats.

The numbers behind his performances tell an even bigger story.

Trossard sits top of the World Cup charts for chances created, with 17 to his name. Mohamed Salah follows on 16, Achraf Hakimi has 15, and Arsenal teammate Declan Rice is also in the mix with 12.

He also ranks second for expected assists at the tournament, with 2.16, behind only Michael Olise.

Those numbers highlight how central Trossard has been to Belgium’s attack. He is not only delivering goals and assists, but consistently creating opportunities for those around him.

All of this comes as links to other clubs continue to suggest his Arsenal future could lie elsewhere.

Trossard has been linked with a summer move away from the Premier League champions, with Besiktas among the clubs showing interest. Since arriving from Brighton in January 2023, the 31-year-old has been a regular part of Arsenal’s squad, but changes are expected in the attacking department.

His World Cup form adds another layer to the conversation.

Last season, he featured 50 times for Arsenal, scoring 8 goals and assisting 11. In total, he has contributed 36 goals and 34 assists in 174 appearances for the Gunners.

Belgium have relied on him as a key attacking outlet at the World Cup. Two goals and two assists from five matches is a strong return, but his place at the top of the chance creation charts underlines his wider impact.

The expected assists numbers back that up. Trossard is not just creating often, but producing chances of real quality.

Arsenal’s transfer plans will still depend on squad balance, age profile, contracts and any new arrivals. Trossard’s World Cup displays alone are unlikely to shift those wider decisions.

They do, however, show the level he is operating at right now.

With links to other clubs continuing, Trossard is making his case on the biggest stage: scoring, creating and leading the World Cup in chances created.
