Thomas Tuchel could fast-track Arsenal’s record-breaking prodigy into senior sessions as injuries deplete the Three Lions’ squad, offering the teenage sensation a chance to test himself alongside some of the world's best.
England boss Thomas Tuchel is thinking about inviting young Arsenal star Max Dowman to England senior training over the current extended International Break, with several stars withdrawing from the German’s squad for the UEFA Nations League fixtures.
Dowman, who has been picked to represent England U19s over the break, has risen to stardom in the last couple of years. The 16 year old impressed in the pre-season of 2024/25, and has been a name on several Arsenal fans’ lips since.
The soon to be 17 year-old made his Premier League debut at just 15 years old and 235 days. He went on to win a late penalty in the fixture, to which Viktor Gyokeres scored. The records that had lasted for decades, not only at club level, but a European footballing level continued to be broken by this English sensation.
Soon after becoming Arsenal’s youngest ever starter, Dowman then became the youngest ever player to appear in a Champions League fixture in the history of the competition.
Dowman then went one better. When he scored against Everton, breaking free from his own half to put the Gunners 2-0 ahead and claim a precious 3 points in their quest for their first title since 2003/04.
The 16-year-old then became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League. Quite the feat. He has even managed to chip in in the limited first team minutes he has racked up so far this season, scoring a brace in the recent 2-4 win over fellow Premier League side Ipswich Town in the 3rd Round of the Carabao Cup.
It has not just been his short senior career that has propelled him to stardom. The Essex born wonderkid has represented Arsenal at every academy level from U15s-U21s.
Split between U15, U18, U19 & U21, he has played a total of 46 games, registering a whopping 32 goals in this period. His talent and clear goalscoring ability has earned him a number of England Youth Team call ups, including for the U16s, U17s & U19s. In all age-groups, Dowman has represented his country 29 times, registering 7 goals for the Three Lions.
