Footage has emerged of Piero Hincapie being carried back to the changing rooms by Kepa Arrizabalaga, after Arsenal beat Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal returned to winning ways as they beat Leeds United 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, after their perfect start to the season was halted by Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break.

James Justin gave the visitors the lead shortly after half-time, putting Leeds ahead at The Emirates for the first time since January 2011.

However, Riccardo Calafiori responded by levelling the score just minutes later, before summer signing Bruno Guimarães marked his first competitive appearance at his new home with the winner.

Whilst there was a sense of relief on the red side of north London as the full-time whistle blew, it soon turned to concern when Piero Hincapié picked up an injury during the post-match warm-down.

The Ecuadorian joined the Gunners on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2025, before the move was made permanent for a fee in the region of £35million this summer.

Hincapié had missed just two games in his professional career for club and country before his move to The Emirates, according to Transfermarkt.

However, he has been hampered by groin and muscular issues throughout his stay in north London, missing 16 games as a result.

Hincapié replaced Riccardo Calafiori, who has also been a regular in the Arsenal treatment room, in the 82nd minute to see out the victory over Leeds on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first time he had been in action in over a month, after sustaining a muscular injury in September, which ruled him out of international duty.

When the 24-year-old was undergoing his post-match warm-down, a common routine for those who did not play much of the game, he suffered an ankle injury.

A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, revealed Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga came to his aid when it was clear that Hincapié was in discomfort and unable to put weight on his right leg.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who moved across London from Chelsea with Noni Madueke in 2025, carried Hincapié on his back to receive treatment off the pitch.

During his exit, the defender appeared close to tears and continued to clutch his ankle.

The extent of the injury remains unknown, though Arsenal's defensive ranks have been bolstered in recent weeks by the return of Jurriën Timber, Ben White and Cristhian Mosquera.

The Gunners now prepare to host Lille in their first home Champions League match since their historic victory over Atlético Madrid last campaign that sent them to the final in Budapest.

Mikel Arteta's side then return to Premier League action next Sunday afternoon as they travel to Oliver Glasner's struggling Nottingham Forest.
