Napoli are reportedly interested in Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera as they look at Premier League options to strengthen their back line.

Napoli are reportedly showing interest in Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Italian newspaper Il Mattino, Napoli are looking at Premier League options to strengthen their defence, with Mosquera among the names under consideration. The 21-year-old is viewed as a possible target as the Serie A side look to add younger profiles to their back line.

The report comes at an interesting time from an Arsenal perspective. Mosquera only joined the club last summer, arriving from Valencia as a highly rated young defender with top-flight experience in Spain. With Arsenal handing him a long-term contract, underlining that he was signed as part of a broader defensive plan rather than a short-term option.

That makes Napoli’s reported interest something to monitor rather than a signal of an imminent move. Arsenal have built strong depth across their back line, but Mosquera still fits the profile Mikel Arteta has valued in recent windows: young, physically strong, technically comfortable and capable of covering more than one defensive role.

Mosquera’s first season in north London has offered him opportunities, even if competition for minutes has been intense. William Saliba and Gabriel remain the established centre-back pairing, while Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie, Jurrien Timber, Ben White and others have given Arteta several options across the defensive line.

That depth is part of the reason why clubs may keep an eye on Arsenal defenders this summer. Napoli’s interest, as reported by Il Mattino, appears to be based on the idea of refreshing their defence with a younger player who already has Premier League and La Liga experience.

From Arsenal’s side, there is no obvious need to make a quick decision. Mosquera is still developing, and his long-term contract gives the club control over his future. If Napoli’s interest becomes more concrete, Arsenal would be in a position to decide whether the player remains part of Arteta’s plans or whether any proposal makes sense in the context of the squad.

For now, it is another sign that Arsenal’s defensive options are likely to attract attention as the summer approaches. Mosquera may not be one of the first names on the teamsheet, but his age, profile and experience make him a player with clear market appeal.
