AFC Bournemouth vs Arsenal becomes the first UK Premier League game on HBO Max as TNT Sports switches from Discovery+, with fans needing to migrate accounts ahead of the clash.

Today, a brand new streaming service has launched in the UK for Premier League football. With Bournemouth's upcoming game against Arsenal being shown on TNT Sports, the streaming platform used to watch the game has moved from Discovery+ to HBO Max, and users are being asked to make the switch.

AFC Bournemouth find themselves at the centre of the story, because the Cherries and Arsenal are set to become the first Premier League sides to be televised in the UK on HBO Max, with the Discovery+ platform being phased out for UK consumers.

Back in May 2025, Andoni Iraola's Cherries caused an upset at the Emirates, de-railing the Gunners title hopes with a 2-1 win, helped by goals from Dean Huijsen and Evanilson.

This time around though, with Arsenal significantly ahead in the title race, not many Boscombe fans expect the same outcome to prevail, not least given the unbelievable amount of draws that Cherries have managed to accrue. That said, TNT Sports have earmarked it as being a pivotal game in the title race, and as such, will be televising it in their usual Saturday lunchtime time-slot.

TNT switch from Discovery+ to HBO Max

For fans not being able to attend the game, the match will be live on TNT Sports. For anyone watching the match via Virgin or Sky, nothing will change, but for anyone streaming the game online, things will be somewhat different, as the dulcet tones of Darren Fletcher and co will no longer be available via Discovery+, and will be available on a new platform.

The launch of HBO Max in the UK on March 26 signals the end of an era for discovery+ as the home of TNT Sports content. From now on, all live sport previously shown on discovery+ - including Premier League fixtures, will move onto HBO Max, bringing football, entertainment, and blockbuster content under one platform for the first time.

Bournemouth's Unenviable Broadcasting Record

Bournemouth's record of having debut screenings on different TV services in unenviable. In December 2019, they were the first Premier League match to screened on Amazon Prime, and they suffered a 2-0 loss against Crystal Palace.

During the Covid season, Bournemouth were involved in the first ever Premier League game to be televised live on the BBC - again against Palace, which they lost 2-0.

The switch from Discovery+ to HBO Max is part of a broader strategy by Warner Bros. Discovery to consolidate its offerings, so rather than separating sport and entertainment across different apps, HBO Max now combines premium drama, films, and live sport — including Premier League matches.

The most important thing to note is that the change *should* be relatively seamless for those who already use Discovery+, as subscribers can simply log into HBO Max with the same details, retaining access to all live  offerings from TNT Sports.

The omens for Bournemouth being blooded on a new platform isn't great, but with Andoni Iraola keen to get one over his Basque friend and rival in Mikel Arteta, all eyes - whether online, on TV or in person - will be on what could be a mouthwatering clash in North London.
