AFC Bournemouth winger Rayan made his Brazil debut aged 19 after a stunning start in the Premier League. The January signing has impressed with goals and assists, becoming the first Cherries player to represent Brazil and underlining his rapid rise as an elite young talent.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, AFC Bournemouth’s rising star Rayan took another remarkable step in his fledgling career, earning his first senior cap for Brazil at just 19 years old.
The winger, who only arrived on the south coast in January from Vasco da Gama, continues to accelerate his development at a breathtaking pace, now becoming the first player to represent the Seleção whilst playing for the Cherries, with some Brazil fans clamouring for his World Cup inclusion.
Rayan's Impressive Start in the Premier League
Rayan made an electrifying start to life at the Cherries since his January 2026 arrival, instantly becoming one of Bournemouth’s most dynamic attacking threats in the Premier League. So far, the right winger has featured in eight top-flight matches with seven starts, racking up two goals and one assist in 626 minutes of action - whilst showcasing blistering pace, aerial power, and clinical finishing that have already drawn comparisons to some of the division’s top young talents.
His showings for Andoni Iraola's men recently have been a little more conservative, in-line with the tactical tweaks that the Cherries boss has made, but he is often left on the pitch for as long as possible, perhaps underlining his likelihood of scoring or creating goals.

Goals from Danilo, Igor Thiago and Gabriel Martinelli secured the win for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, but for Bournemouth supporters, the biggest takeaway was seeing one of their own step onto the pitch in Brazil’s iconic yellow shirt.
Rayan's Delight At Call Up
Rayan’s call-up was richly deserved following a scintillating start to life in the Premier League. He made an instant impact on his debut by assisting Alex Scott in a win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, before finding the net against Everton and Aston Villa.
Speaking to afcb.co.uk ahead of his maiden senior appearance, Rayan shared his delight at achieving a lifelong ambition. “It was a moment I was waiting for. I knew I was on the preliminary list, but I didn’t know it would actually happen. I was very happy at the time and I’m very happy to this day. It was a dream for me.
“My time with the youth national teams was victorious. I was a South American champion at the under-17 and under-20 levels. I hope to achieve that with the senior national team as well and continue on this path".
The teenager also acknowledged the role both his former club and Bournemouth have played in his rapid rise. “Vasco was very impactful in my career. Since last year, I've done a very good job and now I'm at AFC Bournemouth".
Fans on X seemed to love seeing him play, albeit briefly, and were impressed with what they saw, with many heralding his inclusion as a success.
Rayan, in his interview AFC Bournemouth, continued: “Since I arrived, the club has welcomed me very well, I arrived scoring goals, giving assists, and that's leading me down the right path".
“This is a very important opportunity for my career. It’s the final preparation before the World Cup. I hope to do a good job here and, God willing, be called up.”
For Bournemouth, Rayan’s international breakthrough is further evidence of the club’s growing reputation as a platform for elite young talent - and suggests that this is only the beginning of a very special journey.
