AFC Bournemouth are weighing a move for Ryan Sessegnon, though reports are viewed cautiously. Defensive gaps remain despite progress, and Sessegnon’s profile fits. Fulham may extend his deal, making any deal difficult.
According to sports website SportsBoom.co.uk, AFC Bournemouth are considering a summer move for Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon as they aim to strengthen their defence ahead of the new campaign.
Whilst SportsBoom is not primarily a reputable football reporting website in the traditional journalistic sense, it is a legitimate operation within the sports betting and betting-guide niche. The site is heavily affiliate-oriented, as such there is an onus on regular football content which is framed around betting strategy, odds, and promotions.

With this in mind, many Cherries and Cottagers fans are sceptical about its reliability, however it certainly does seem to successfully highlight a concern that AFC Bournemouth might be having after the decimation that occurred before the current campaign began, where 4 of the 5 back-line upped sticks.
Iraola has worked his magic to be able to "strengthen" the defence somewhat, with James Hill becoming a linch-pin of the back four, displacing the £25m signing of Bafode Diakite. Plus, with Marcos Senesi looking to spread his wings in the summer too, it will be an area that Thiago Pinto and Simon Francis will be looking at strengthening.
REUTERS/Hannah Mckay Sessignon, now 25, is approaching a pivotal stage in his career, with his current contract due to expire this summer. SportsBoom have suggested however that Fulham do hold an option to extend his deal by an additional year, which could complicate any potential transfer for the versatile defender.
Whilst Cherries are holding their own this season, there seems to be a clear recognition behind the scenes that reinforcements are needed if the club are to climb higher in the table - which is part of Bill Foley's plan.
Ryan Sessegnon's Profile
Sessegnon’s pace, attacking threat and increasing maturity in a deeper role would make him a strong fit for Iraola’s high-intensity system.
His career at Fulham has been defined by two spells bookended by breakout stardom and a heartfelt return.
Emerging from the academy as a 16-year-old in 2016, he made an instant impact in the Championship, becoming the youngest scorer in club history and the first player born in the 2000s to net in the English professional leagues; across 120 appearances (2016–19) he scored 25 goals and provided 18 assists, including a standout 2017–18 campaign in which he bagged 15–16 goals (club top scorer) - and he played a starring role in the play-off promotion to the Premier League, winning Championship Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season and a place in the PFA Team of the Year as its youngest-ever member.
After a record £25m departure to Tottenham in 2019, he returned on a free transfer in July 2024 on a two-year deal (with an option for a third).
In his second spell he has added roughly 40 league appearances and six goals by early 2026 - highlighted by rapid-fire strikes against Wolves, Spurs, Liverpool and a stoppage-time winner at Southampton in 2024/25 that earned him a Premier League Player of the Month shortlist.
In total, Sessegnon has made over 160 appearances and scored more than 30 goals for the club across both stints.
Would he make the move?
Although he is settled back in West London, Sessegnon is believed to be open to a new challenge at a higher-profile club, a stance that could alert potential suitors. Bournemouth, however, may need to work hard to convince him.
Fulham are understandably reluctant to lose a player they see as reliable and entering his prime years. With little separating the two clubs in terms of league standing and ambition, any negotiations are likely to be finely balanced.
While Fulham are eager to activate their one-year extension clause, Bournemouth remain hopeful that a strong offer this summer could tempt the Cottagers into a sale.
