The 19-year-old arrives at Brentford with 38 goal contributions and four individual awards across his last two seasons at Chatham Town.

Brentford have completed the permanent signing of Sam Sene-Richardson from Chatham Town following an outstanding campaign in senior non-league football.

The 19-year-old midfielder has agreed a two-year deal that keeps him at Brentford until 2028, with the club holding an option for an extra year. He will link up with Sam Saunders’ Brentford B squad to start his journey.

Sene-Richardson heads to West London off the back of a 2025/26 campaign where he was directly involved in 38 goals for Chatham.

His influence was central as Chatham finished fourth in the Isthmian Premier Division, though their season ended in disappointment with a play-off defeat to Billericay Town.

Sene-Richardson found the net in that play-off loss and capped his season by picking up both the Young Player of the Season award for a second year running and the Players’ Player of the Season prize.

A product of Chatham’s academy, the midfielder broke into the first team during the 2024/25 season and quickly made his mark.

He wasted little time making an impression, sweeping up both the Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards in his first full year at senior level.

That grounding means Brentford are bringing in a player who already knows what it takes to play for points every week, not just in the sheltered world of academy football.

Saunders sees those minutes on the pitch, combined with Sene-Richardson’s eye for goal, as the perfect platform for the next step in his career.

“We’re really pleased to have Sam on board,” the Brentford B head coach told the club’s official website.

“He’s going to bring some experience with playing first-team football.

“His record last season for Chatham, playing lots of minutes, scoring and assisting lots of goals, is something that definitely didn’t go unnoticed.”

Now, Sene-Richardson gets the chance to settle into Brentford’s set-up and show he can deliver at a higher level.

His stats point to a player who can make things happen, whether scoring or setting up goals, and four individual awards in two years underline just how quickly he became a key man at Chatham.

“He’s going to come here and take the opportunity with both hands,” Saunders added.

“We’re really looking forward to working with Sam.”
