Brentford will introduce a new girls’ Academy and enhanced pathway for female footballers as part of further investment in the women’s and girls’ game.

Brentford have confirmed plans to launch a new girls’ Academy as part of an enhanced development pathway for female footballers from the 2026/27 season.

The club announced the move following a review of Brentford Women’s programme, with the new structure designed to create a clearer route from youth football into the women’s first team. Matches in the new pathway are due to begin this autumn.

The academy will initially include Under-14s and Under-16s squads competing in the Junior Premier League, with support from staff at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust. The club say the aim is to provide a more structured, performance-focused environment for young players.

A key part of the announcement is that players will not have to pay to participate. Brentford said that decision is intended to remove barriers for talented young girls and increase access to higher-level football.

The club will also invest further across the pathway, including an Under-18s Trust side in the Junior Premier League and expanded Emerging Talent Centre provision at Under-10s and Under-12s level. That gives Brentford a wider age-group structure and a clearer progression route for young players in the local area.

There will also be a change of home venue for Brentford Women. From the 2026/27 season, the team will play home fixtures at Uxbridge Football Club’s Honeycroft ground in West Drayton. Honeycroft has a capacity of 3,770 and has recently undergone redevelopment, including the installation of a 3G pitch and improved facilities.

As part of the wider restructuring, Brentford Women will move away from their current B-team model before the 2026/27 campaign. The club said the decision reflects a long-term focus on creating a clearer and more effective route into senior football for talented young players.

Brentford have also said they will support current B-team players with their next steps as the new structure is introduced. Further details, including recruitment information and timelines for the new teams, are still to be announced.

The announcement marks a notable step in Brentford’s investment in women’s and girls’ football. By adding academy age groups, removing participation costs and creating a defined pathway towards senior football, the club are moving towards a more joined-up structure for developing female players.
