Kaye Furo has been rewarded for an outstanding start to the season after scoring four goals and registering an assist across Brentford Under-21s’ opening two Premier League 2 games.

Kaye Furo has been named the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for August after making an immediate impact in the first month of Brentford’s first season at Category One level.

The 19-year-old played every minute of the Under-21s’ opening two league fixtures, scoring four times and adding an assist as Sam Saunders’ side began the campaign with back-to-back victories.

Furo was selected from an eight-player shortlist after helping Brentford take maximum points from their opening games. His first goal arrived just six minutes into the club’s first-ever Premier League 2 fixture at Stoke.

Furo battled his way in front of the defender before finishing calmly to open the scoring, with Brentford eventually holding on for a 3-2 victory.

Furo scored inside the opening minute against Sunderland, rounding the goalkeeper after being released by Riley Owen. With two further goals completed his hat-trick and helped Saunders’ side run out 5-1 winners.

It has been an encouraging start to Furo’s first full season in West London. Brentford moved to sign him permanently from Club Brugge in January, handing the Belgium youth international a five-and-a-half-year contract after tracking his development in Belgium.

He made his Club Brugge debut during Champions League qualifying last season and also featured in the Belgian Pro League, while his earlier development included regular football for Club NXT in the country’s second tier.

The 6ft 3in forward scored eight times in 18 league appearances for Club NXT during the 2024/25 season before progressing into Brugge’s senior set-up.

Brentford have continued to give Furo opportunities across different levels since his arrival.

While much of his competitive football has come with the club’s development side, he has also spent time around Keith Andrews’ first-team squad. The addition of Callum Wilson to the Brentford squad this summer, meaning that the Bees can continue his development, without needing to rush him into first team football too often where he would need to produce more immediately.

His form in August offering another positive sign that the Bees made the right choice. Premier League 2 represents a new challenge for Brentford after their move into Category One academy football, and Furo has wasted little time adjusting to the level.

Four goals, one assist and two victories were enough to earn him the first PL2 Player of the Month award of the 2026/27 season.

For a player already on the fringes of Andrews’ senior group, it also gives him a strong platform to keep pushing for further first-team opportunities as the season develops.
