Brentford players will spend the March international break spread across World Cup play-offs, senior friendlies and first-time call-ups, with Keith Andrews’ squad heavily represented before the run-in resumes

Brentford head into the international break with players involved in everything from World Cup play-offs to senior friendlies and first international call-ups, giving Andrews another reminder of how much of his squad will spend the next week in meaningful camps rather than resting in west London. There is senior involvement across Europe and South America, while the Denmark and Republic of Ireland play games of major interest with both nations remaining two games away from this summer’s World Cup.

Republic of Ireland

Collins and Kelleher have both been called up for Ireland’s World Cup play-off campaign. Ireland face Czechia in Prague in a semi-final on March 26, with a final against either Denmark or North Macedonia to follow on March 31 if they progress. That gives Brentford two players in one of the more meaningful camps of the break, with World Cup qualification on the line.

Denmark

Damsgaard was already part of Denmark’s plans, and Jensen’s recall means Brentford will have two midfielders in the same camp. Denmark take on North Macedonia in their World Cup play-off semi-final on March 26 and would then face either Ireland or Czechia on March 31 if they win.

England

Henderson has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan at Wembley. It is another sign of his standing since moving to west London, and it keeps Brentford represented in one of the most closely watched squads of the break. England play Uruguay on March 27 and Japan on March 31.

Brazil

Thiago’s first Brazil call-up is one of the standout Brentford stories of the window. Keith Andrews confirmed the striker would join Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for friendlies against France and Croatia, a reward for a season that has brought 19 Premier League goals and 22 in all competitions.

Norway

Ajer remains in the Norway setup, and his place carries added weight given Norway have already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Brentford’s own club profile on the defender notes he helped Norway seal their place at the finals in November 2025, ending a 28-year wait.

Benin

Boni has earned his first senior Benin call-up, another encouraging marker for Brentford’s development pathway. The young forward has impressed for the Bees’ B team, and this latest step shows his progress is now being recognised at senior international level too.

For Brentford, the break brings a chance for much of the wider squad to rest and regroup, ready to continue the push for European football. The hope will also be that it doesn't add any further fitness problems before the run-in resumes.
