Mikkel Damsgaard says Brentford are “fighting for everything” in their final three games after the 3-0 win over West Ham.

Mikkel Damsgaard says Brentford are focused on finishing the season strongly after their 3-0 win over West Ham United ended a six-game winless run in the Premier League.

Keith Andrews’ side had produced several competitive performances in recent weeks without getting the results they wanted, but Brentford turned that frustration into a convincing victory at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Damsgaard scored the third goal late on after Konstantinos Mavropanos’ own goal and Igor Thiago’s penalty had put Brentford in control. Speaking to Brentford’s media team after the match, the Denmark international said the result was an important reward for the level of performance.

“I think we played a good game,” Damsgaard said. “We knew it was going to be a tough game but we've been struggling to get the wins. We had the good performances but getting the wins was tough, so it's really nice that we can just get the three points today.”

That was the key difference for Brentford. During their winless run, performances had often been solid enough to keep them in games, but not decisive enough to turn those displays into three points.

Against West Ham, they found a better balance. The match was open at times, with chances at both ends, but Brentford carried a consistent threat and still finished with a clean sheet.

Damsgaard said he would not describe the mood afterwards as relief, but admitted the squad were delighted with the manner of the win.

“I don't know about relief, but we were super happy to get the win after some games without winning,” he said. “And the way that we did, I think, was very good.”

The result leaves Brentford with three games remaining and still chasing the strongest possible end to the campaign. Their European hopes remain alive, but only if they keep turning performances into wins.

Damsgaard made clear the squad have no intention of easing through the run-in.

“Three games left and we're fighting for the best possible finish,” he said. “We're fighting for everything we've got in the last few games.”

The win over West Ham was a necessary reset for Brentford. It ended the wait for a league victory, restored some momentum and gave Andrews’ side something to build on before the final stretch of the season.
