As the first round of international games have been and passed, a total of 12 Brighton players have been called up for their nations, and have proved themselves on the biggest stages, but which ones have performed the best?

1 - Malick Yalcouyé

Of course, this piece couldn’t start without mentioning our new midfield superstar, Malick Yalcouyé!

He has been an unbelievable player in his first games for Brighton, and earned a first call-up to the Ivory Coast national team. He has carried his ability with him to the international stage, as the 20 year old played as an attacking midfielder, and helped guide his team to a 2-0 victory against Ghana, scoring the first goal and winning the penalty for the second. These performances will go far in helping his country qualify for AFCON again.

2 - Yasin Ayari

Brighton’s main playmaker in midfield, Yasin Ayari, has proved himself many times for his country, having four goals and three assists in just 26 games for the Swedes.

And already, he has added to that, assisting a goal for Liverpool’s Alexander Isak in a 2-1 victory against Romania, while having a 91% pass accuracy and 11 passes into the final third. He also helped to contribute defensively, making one tackle, one block, one clearance and four recoveries. 

Against Poland last night, it was a similarly impressive display from Ayari, where he scored a goal in a 3-1 victory. He achieved a 92% pass accuracy, five defensive contributions, and dominated the midfield.

A very well played all round performance from the young man, which will dearly help Sweden in the Nations League.

3 - Maxim De Cuyper

The Belgian left-back and makeshift left-winger has been making a name for himself so far this season, already having scored three goals and providing three assists for Brighton in all competitions. 

Playing as a left-back for his national team, he showcased his strong defensive side too, as in their game against Italy, he made five defensive contributions and helped secure a 2-0 win and a clean sheet against a strong opponent.

De Cuyper only played 22 minutes last night against France, and sadly lost 1-0, but there are still positive signs from him as Belgium look to perform well in the Nations League, especially being given a difficult group.

4 - Ferdi Kadioglu

The Turkish defender had a tough opposition to play against in France, and was subbed off in the last minutes, however still had a strong game continuing his excellent form with Brighton.

At left wing-back, he made seven defensive contributions, and managed to limit the France attack to only one goal, while also attacking and nearly scoring a great chance himself. If he also continues to perform well, Kadioglu could have a good Nations League campaign with Turkey.

5 - Luka Vuskovic

The £50 million revelation signing for Brighton and Hove Albion can only keep going upwards from here. 

The 19 year old had 104 touches of the ball against Czechia, the most out of any player on the pitch, and put those touches to good use as well, making seven defensive contributions and 90% pass accuracy. Despite making an unfortunate error that led to a goal against his side, he kept battling, and helped Croatia to win 2-1, securing a valuable three points in the Nations League, especially in such a tough group.
