Brighton and Hove Albion dispatched the 'Champions' Arsenal by some margin this afternoon, and more crazily than anything else, it could've been much worse!

Let's take a look at each player and rate them based on their performance this afternoon. Spoiler: they're all going to be at least above a 9! 

The Dutchman had a fine game in goal.

Making big saves, including one deep into the second half against Kai Havertz in a one-on-one. While his distribution may not have been at the top of it's game, his saves kept Albion in it and prevented any sort of momentum from the Gunners. 

Our Player of the Season from last season had a good game, and it feels very overdue. He has had a shaky start to our return to the Premier League, but he more than proved his worth this afternoon. 

Kadioglu was up and down, pressed well, and helped break up the play when he needed to.

I seem to be running out of superlatives for our record signing centre-back. When he first arrived at the club, there was instant hype from the footballing world. Games like today made us realise exactly why that is the case. 

Aerially dominant at both ends of the pitch, steps up well, and is a strong leader on the pitch. You would assume that he and Struijk have played together for many years by the way they played this afternoon. Stellar. 

A minor increase in Vuskovic's rating. Struijk was excellent today. Strong in the air, in the challenge, and possibly should have had a goal of his own!

Considering this was his full debut for the club, it did not feel like he had ever played for us before. A fantastic defensive and attacking performance from our new defender from Yorkshire!

Boscagli is quietly becoming one of Albion's best players. His crosses and passing are very good, and he acts something like a mini Trent Alexander-Arnold. 

He has a lot to his game and defends well too. The converted left-back may well have found his best position for the time being. 

While I said Boscagli is quietly becoming one of the best players, Ayari is one of our best players. Relentless in the press today, he battled for every ball and made more than a nuisance of himself throughout.

On another day, he could have had a few himself. A sublime game from our technical midfielder, who desperately needs to sign a new contract!

As far as full debuts go, there won't be many better than Andrés Amex welcoming this afternoon. Fantastic on the ball, in the press, and even popped up with a debut-day goal at the back post. 

His brilliant header rounded off a very encouraging day, and dare I say one of the brightest debuts of any player to wear the shirt.

If I have run out of superlatives for Vuskovic, then I simply have no words for Groß. Timeless, assured, fluid, efficient, intelligent, magnificent, captain, leader, legend. I need not say more about the best signing since himself. 

The Paraguayan pushed everyone at all times. Gomez has been given a hard time by sections of the fanbase, but you can never knock his work ethic. 

One of the key reasons why today happened, and one of the most underrated workhorses at the club. Possibly should have had one or two for himself on another day. Marvellous. 

First things first, what a goal. Such a clean, low strike which arrowed into the bottom left-hand corner. Kostoulas had question marks over his first touch, but none over his work rate and ball-striking ability. 

His lethal nature in front of goal could become deadly with the right training. 

Awarded the Amex Player of the Match. Pressed very well, battled every duel and won many of them, even at full stretch. De Cuyper has grown into everything that we hoped in forward areas, limiting his defensive struggles.

A happy day for the Belgian. 

Let's be honest here: he didn't have much to do. But he was part of a historic day at the Amex this afternoon. 

Costinha looks to be a solid addition both going forward and defensively. Nothing to worry about thus far. 

The Frenchman was excellent once he entered the pitch this afternoon. Taking on players, chased down second balls, and brought entertainment as well as value. Georgi has started the season in his best vein since arriving at the club, and long may it continue. 

His move with Yalcouyé and O'Riley to almost score a fourth was all down to his vision. 

Should have scored, but didn't. A very strong cameo as part of a nice revival of his name on the South Coast. O'Riley was fine, and he will be kicking himself tonight that the score doesn't read 4-0!

Despite having little to do, he defended the remaining minutes well. A chest pass quickly made me realise he had been spending enough time around Lewis Dunk. 

Svoboda looks to be a smart, underrated piece of business for a minimal fee this summer and a strong pickup for Fabian Hürzeler's side. 

Everywhere, even with a few minutes. Yalcouyé is a superstar, and it is the first game in which he hasn't been awarded the best player on the pitch by default.

Even still, he should have seen Declan Rice be sent off after chasing him down relentlessly in the dying embers of the game.
