A relentless five-goal demolition saw Diego Gomez score a stunning 51-metre screamer, as Fabian Hürzeler’s side humiliated their rivals to ignite an audacious Premier League title charge.

Another weekend, another Brighton and Hove Albion demolition job. The final score reads Albion 5-0 Crystal Palace... absolutely incredible.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!

One of the fastest starts you will ever see in a rival fixture. The floodgates opened after just four minutes, as an own goal from Jaydee Canvot flew past a dismal-looking Walter Benitez, who was one of the best players for Albion this afternoon!

Just six minutes later, the Seagulls added two more goals to the scoreline, from both Diego Gomez and Yasin Ayari... The Paraguayan's goal will go down as an all-time Albion goal, etched in the history books for many years to come.

Gomez was relentless throughout the game, and while many will mention the technical side of his game, they may want to rewatch his 51-metre effort that flew over the head of Benitez- simply unbelievable. The furthest distance goal scored in the Premier League since Wayne Rooney against West Ham nine years ago!

What makes it better is that Albion did this against their biggest rivals, and, of all games, it defies description.

Credits to the head coach!

A lot of credit has to go to Fabian Hürzeler for the incredible start too, who set the Seagulls up remarkably well, somewhat similar to the way the initial Arsenal game went. Dare we say we are in the title race at the moment?

Hürzeler finally has the monkey off his back by beating Palace for the first time, which feels like a big moment for his possible future this season.

The goals continued in the second half. Charalampos Kostoulas finally grabbed his goal after multiple chances throughout the game.

The young Greek forward made multiple efforts to add to the Albion tally, but his relentless attitude and ability helped guide him to the slice of luck that he certainly deserved. One thing to say about Kostoulas is how clinical he is in front of goal.

Jack Hinshelwood sealed Albion's fifth, and Seagulls fans were chanting, "We want six"! Aren't we becoming a greedy bunch...

Of all Amex moments, this goes down as one of the best, and certainly the best game against our rivals. During a podcast preview earlier in the week on Talk Seagulls, I said I wanted to see a demolition. A moment to show that we actually are what we think we are.

Finally, after so many years of waiting and having to hear shameless banter, we are the ones on the other end. Doesn't that feel sweet?
