The Gambian livewire pledges loyalty to the Seagulls, dismissing transfer noise to focus on a return to action following his collapsed summer move to Anfield.
What did Minteh actually say?
Minteh said in the Gambian media, "I am focused. I am in Brighton. That is the team I am playing for. That is my team, and I don’t want to talk much about transfers. What God has decided for me, I am happy with it. “I am really, really eager to come back and help my team because they are doing well at the moment, but if I come back, I will do my best to help them.”
While there could be something to analyse here, it seems hard to imagine a world where he says too much differently here. It is nice to see Minteh breaking his silence without going into a dangerous world of negativity while still being at the club.
Brighton fans have become used to seeing their current players look to their homeland media when attempting to push for a big move away for the next transfer window.
Minteh seems to have a fairly strong head on his shoulders despite the summer noise around him. We don't know what kind of entourage or people he has around him, but it is somewhat refreshing to see a player not look to cause further fuss in the public eye.
Liverpool will no doubt be interested in his services. Despite his injury this season, everyone knows just how good he is, and how good he could be for the Seagulls.
A livewire on the pitch, and the type of player who will take on his man while equally putting in the effort to win duals and track back for the team.
Many players, especially around his age, tend to lack in the latter department. Once his end product improves, it is inevitable that he will be playing at the top level, but he will need to keep his eye on the ball.
The bad old days... who remembers?
Or how about when Leandro Trossard forced a move to the Gunners by leaving training, jetting off to Belgium while training was still on, and posting an Instagram story to prove he wasn't at the club?
It is safe to say that Albion fans haven't had their best luck with ex-players departing in an amicable way, and perhaps Minteh could finally be the one to be slightly different.
Even if it is just a slightly better PR team than the aforementioned players, it seems a little more tolerable to fans!
