Fabian Hürzeler’s high-flying Seagulls challenge the league leaders at the Etihad, as a reinforced City side looks to tighten a leaky defense against Brighton’s tactical masterclass.

Brighton are back up against Manchester City at the Etihad, and while we could look into every possibility from an Albion perspective, there is also a case to be made for City to be a significantly stronger side than last time out during the week.

As we know, City's squad depth is rather incredible. Despite drawing 2-2 in normal time with a rotated side, the knowledge that they will reintroduce the likes of Illiman Ndiaye, Elliot Anderson, Erling Haaland, and more is something to get any Albion fan a bit twitchy heading into tomorrow afternoon.

Conversely, there is a case to be made that the Seagulls will have less pressure to get a result, as it is likely to be heavily in City's favour. With that in mind, Albion are still one of the teams to watch in the Premier League so far this season, with form flying at the top end of the Premier League table, and Hürzeler's side will not wish to fear any opponent, especially at this stage of the season!

Let's hear from Freddie Pye from City Xtra, the City correspondent on Roundtable...

The Man City Perspective...

Wednesday night summed up exactly why Brighton are perhaps playing the very best football in the Premier League at the moment. There’s a total buy-in and commitment to Fabian Hurzeler’s sporting project, and every single player understands the game plan and expectations.

As such, there’s the ability to play a variety of different players in any given game and still receive the same outcome in terms of tactical principles.

That was Manchester City’s second-best opponent of the season, far for me, behind only the European champions. Do I expect anything different this time around? Absolutely not, and if anything, I expect even better from the Seagulls, purely down to strength of personnel.

Manchester City are in desperate need of the likes of Matheus Nunes, Elliot Anderson, and Iliman Ndiaye for this next meeting, added to by expert firepower up front in Erling Haaland.

We need to be clinical in front of goal to emerge triumphant in a game that is probably going to be decided by a single goal in a high-scoring affair. Nunes adds much-needed right-back steel, Anderson’s reading of midfield brings control, and Ndiaye’s decisiveness in the final third, particularly down the right, brings a much-needed added dimension to our attack. Haaland is Haaland.

The wins have been coming in bulk for Manchester City at the start of the season so far, so you can’t have too many complaints. But the performances haven’t quite been at a level where you can comfortably say we’re going to be in the Premier League title race right down to the very end.

Individual mistakes have crept in; there’s a concerning leak of goals in defence, and we’re probably not taking as many chances as we should be. That being said, being top of the table by the end of October has been the biggest positive, particularly given the freshness of this project and the sheer number of alterations made over the summer.

I’m going to go for a high-scoring Manchester City win here, emerging with a 3-2 scoreline. But don’t be surprised to see major problems caused by Brighton, who by all means, could take a point or three themselves!

The Brighton reaction

It is quite interesting to hear that City will be worried about Albion's attack, and even more so with their individual mistakes in defence. Albion managed to tear apart the Champions Arsenal 3-0 at the Amex. The goals often came from high-intensity pressing, and forcing the Gunners into making a large portion of mistakes.

Albion also did this to the likes of Manchester United away from home and Aston Villa at home on the opening day.

With the returns of the likes of Minteh and Wieffer, it could be an intense battle in midfield and tactically, with Hürzeler gaining extra versatility in his ranks.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned City big names are always a threat. Freddie thinks there will be goals, and I think I agree with him...

Prediction: City 2-2 Albion (again).
