The German tactical mastermind has weaponized relentless high-pressing and clinical efficiency, transforming the Seagulls into a fearless scoring machine that currently rivals Europe’s most elite heavyweights.

Brighton's on fire, your defence is terrified...

It is more than fair enough to say that Brighton have started this season in close to perfect form, only falling to defeat in one game... away to Danny Welbeck's Chelsea.

It is also fair to say that the Seagulls have been one of the best teams in Europe, both in terms of play style and also efficiency with goals/points.

Albion have scored the third-highest number of goals, only behind Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, having scored more goals than teams such as Inter Milan and Manchester City.

What are the reasons for Brighton's explosive start to the season?

Fabian Hurzeler has needed a lot of time, patience and trust to really install his footballing philosophy at Brighton. And let me emphasise: a LOT of time and patience.

I have spoken about last season and Hurzeler in previous articles. There were a lot of moments last season where you felt the 33 year-old might well lose his job...

But he prevailed. Carried Brighton into Europe, and everyone is reaping the rewards in and out the club. Fabian learnt, trialled, and errored, and eventually, after many big challenges and tough moments, has found some consistency with results and performances.

Tactical reasons? Or a mentality that is shared amongst?

Both. We are braver. Want to commit bodies forward both in and out of possession. In yesterday's game against Zalgiris, for Georginio Rutter's opener, there were seven blue shirts in and around the box.

Our reactions when we lose the ball are nearly perfect and shared around the tea. Doesn't matter who, where, when, or how; we win the ball back after we lose it.

Luka Vuskovic in the Lithuanian side's box is a great example, winning the ball back to aid the build-up to Matt O'Riley's very well-deserved goal.

Hurzeler has had to be brutal with players who did not agree with his ways, or who didn't have the correct mentality and attitude, hence we lost big talents such as Brajan Gruda, who is flying with Leipzig

Core values such as togetherness within a team, team spirit, and a strong mentality are key for the Germans. Building foundations that he can control and constructing a well-oiled machine which has only been halted once so far this season.

One way or another, this is football everyone enjoys. Everyone buys into it, both players and fans. Everyone is pushing one way. This is the most confident I have ever been personally, in a Brighton team picking up results.
