Brighton have been known to have unbelievable footballers represent their club over recent years. From small players who are relatively unknown, to players who are worth over £100 million to Chelsea.
Who has had the best individual seasons for the Seagulls during their time in the Premier League and have they got the credit they deserve in that time?
2017/18 - Pascal Groß
A season often underestimated by a lot of the Premier League, but heavily remembered by Albion fans. When Brighton first got to the Premier League, there were a lot of doubts as to whether they'd even remain in the league, let alone have a star player.
The £1.5 million signing from Ingolstadt was a relatively unknown quantity; there wasn't even a big announcement for him! The German carried Brighton, put simply. Seven goals and eight assists in their debut season, including scoring the goal which kept Brighton mathematically in the division against Manchester United.
An unforgettable season of the highest quality. It was like witnessing a player clearly above the level of everyone else around them.
Groß is now known as a modern legend, but he had to earn that title in the first place.
2021/22 - Moisés Caicedo
When Caicedo broke into the squad, there was an inner feeling that we were all witnessing the birth of a superstar. His record in the squad was exceptional. Graham Potter's side had been reborn. Previouslt struggling for form, the impact of Caicedo was incredible.
Results like the 4-0 over Manchester United were stapled into all-time Amex history, and a large part of that was thanks to Caicedo. His influence on the squad was infectious and far beyond his years.
During that season, the early signs of Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister started to show face, and gave every reason for Albion fans to be excited. Who could have foreseen a potential £100m+ British Transfer record sale?
Pretty much every Brighton fan!
2025/26 - Danny Welbeck
Reborn Danny Welbeck. The man who seems to age like the finest of wines continues to shine o the biggest stage. There are not many better in the league for goalscoring and impact off the pitch.
Welbeck's resurgence has been surprising to the world, but not to Albion fans. On numerous occasions, he has scored vital goals to keep Albion alive in games or simply win tough games.
The nature of Fabian Hürzeler's football has been inconsistent, and the responsibility tends to fall on the shoulders of Welbeck.
13 goals and counting, the Albion striker will be banging on the door for an England call-up. If he were to achieve it, it would be one of the proudest Albion striker seasons since their promotion to the Premier League.
