Thanks to Bart Verbruggen’s second half saves, the Seagulls have earned a point in the Czech Republic following an unsatisfying performance.

After a fantastic win at the weekend over rivals Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion have been bought back to earth thanks to a 0-0 draw away at Czech side Jablonec. It was a frustrating performance from the Albion, but there were some encouraging signs to take away from today's game.

Bart Verbruggen: 6.8

In a frustrating second half, the Dutch goalkeeper made countless one-on-one saves to keep the Albion in the game. His distribution was class as always, and he was easily part of why Brighton haven’t left Jablonec empty-handed.

Jaouen Hadjam: 6.0

Hadjam’s performance showed flashes of quality. However, like many players today, the Algerian full back made some rookie mistakes. The most notable being a volley that ballooned over the crossbar in the second half, before being replaced by Ferdi Kadioglu with five minutes to spare.

Olivier Boscagli: 6.0

Boscagli saw a lot of the ball this evening, having 91 touches until being subbed off with twenty minutes to go. Apart from that, his performance was average, not making many mistakes and linking up well with the midfield.

Michel Svoboda: 5.8

Svoboda had a quiet game until the 70th minute, occasionally being the only defender back when Albion pushed for a goal. Overall, his performance was ok, and I hope he continues pushing for a first team spot.

Costinha: 5.5

Costinha has certainly had better performances so far this season. He committed some clumsy fouls which earned him a deserved booking. Though, his passion to keep going until the final whistle impressed me.

Pascal Gross: 6.7

As usual, Pascal Gross drove the team forward with pinpoint passing. The experienced German ran the game and was presumably only taken off to be rested for a big game against Liverpool this weekend.

Malick Yalcouye: 6.4

Malick Yalcouye has been superb so far this season, mainly down to his fantastic work rate. We saw that superb work rate today, but some poor decision making earns him a 6.4 for today’s game.

Jack Hinshelwood: 5.8

Another standout performer this season, Hinshelwood was left frustrated by some quality Jablonec defending. Some good link up play with Georginio Rutter was encouraging, but Hinshelwood’s game ended being subbed off in the second half.

Matt O’Riley: 5

This rating feels unfair to O’Riley due to the fact he was playing out of position. Perhaps if he was playing in the middle, he would’ve seen more success this evening. Yet, he was a victim of a superb defensive performance from Czech left back Jirí Sláma.

Ibrahim Osman: 6.1

Osman looked exciting today, creating numerous chances and almost scoring a few. His offside goal was a great finish, but some wayward shooting in both halves was very noticeable. He continues to grow, and his finishing will certainly improve under the guidance of Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler.

Georginio Rutter: 6.8

Rutter grew into the game today, easily being the best outfield player after the 70-minute mark. This coincided with him moving to right wing, which makes me wonder what the result may have been if he started out wide instead of striker.

Chema Andres: 5.8

Chema’s passing was good after coming off the bench, however he found it difficult to find his feet in the game. If he was given more time he may have made a bigger impact, but with fitness the priority he will contribute more this weekend.

Yasin Ayari: 5.8

Ayari is one of Brighton’s most consistent performers, however he also struggled to grow into the game today. Much like Chema, his passing was solid – however his pressing work impressed me in the latter stages of the game.

Luka Vuskovic: 6

Vuskovic was the best of the substitutes today and could’ve easily scored tonight from one of our seven corners if he started. I’m excited to see him play against Liverpool in three days’ time.

Promise David: 5.5

Promise David will eventually start to score but needs to build his confidence in this Brighton team. Understandably, Babis Kostoulas is getting more game time now due to his incredible form. With Tzimas and Ferguson returning from injury, competition for this position will be very fierce.
