Gomez nearing return as Brighton eye European spots. Key midfielders feature heavily, while March and Milner remain sidelined.

Brighton and Hove Albion have been in exceptional form in the lead-up to this game.

A win against Newcastle would be significant in their late push for European qualification.

With the team news confirmed by Fabian Hürzeler in today's press conference, what sort of team are Albion able to put together?

What is the team news?

In the biggest news, Diego Gomez could return to the side before the end of the season.

The Paraguayan international sustained an injury at Tottenham a couple of weeks ago, but Albion coped well with his absence when Chelsea were obliterated at the Amex.

Gomez has become an influential member of Hürzeler's team contributing to goals while always being the player to work hard. One of the head coach's core principles are hard work and out working the opponent, and Gomez is a perfect match for that system.

Although he may miss the trip to Newcastle, having him back available before Manchester United could be the extra depth Albion need to see this mission over the line.

Solly March and James Milner both remain out for Brighton. Milner had only just become an important part of the team, starting most weeks and helping transform the dynamic back into Hürzeler's favour. His influence was strong in helping the younger players buy into the philosophy and contribute beyond their inputs so far.

With that being said, Carlos Baleba's game against Chelsea was very reassuring. Combined with players like Jack Hinshelwood, Yasin Ayari, and Pascal Groß, Albion are very well stocked in midfield areas. While Milner was a good player to help steady the ship, they can be an eye-catching watch going forward, and a big part of that can be led by their midfielders.

March has had a tough time at the club. From being the star man as a Sussex-born player, to disappearing in the shadows.

It is an incredibly sad watch for any Brighton fan, especially as his contract looks to expire this summer. Everyone knows his quality, but injuries upon injuries have mounted on him, and unfortunately, caused him to miss most of the last three years of football.

Overall, Albion have a well-balanced side. With little to no significant injuries, they can field a full starting 11. Whether that will include Baleba again remains to be seen. However, against a struggling Newcastle side, there is a game there for the taking this weekend, especially with a full team that is in strong form.
