From the brink of dismissal to a historic trophy treble, Fabian Hürzeler’s tactical revival and veteran leadership have transformed the Seagulls into a dominant Premier League force.

Following the earlier achievements of Pascal Gross winning the Premier League Player of the Month award, and Fabian Hurzeler winning the Premier League Manager of the Month award, Lewis Dunk has completed the 'treble' with his 30-yard wonder-strike against Coventry City, winning the Goal of the Month award too.

It marks the first time that a club has won all three awards since Manchester United nearly three years ago, in November 2023, which marks a huge achievement for the club.

What was the situation at the club earlier this year?

Eight months ago, Fabian Hurzeler was on the brink of losing his job.  He had lost 1-0 to rivals Crystal Palace, was dumped out of the FA Cup by Liverpool, and had lost the support of the majority of the fanbase. A tough period during winter months was not uncommon for Brighton, as seen under Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi, and Hurzeler in his first season with the club as well.

However, this was a low point for the German manager, as at that point, he had won just two games out of a possible 17 in all competitions - against Burnley in the league and a turbulent Manchester United in the FA Cup.

How Hurzeler managed to save himself and the club

There was still hope for a good season for Brighton. The club were only eight points behind 7th place Brentford, and good results would see the Seagulls climb through a tightly contested table.

It started with a 2-0 win away at Brentford, closing the gap to six points. Another win at home to Nottingham Forest gained three more points, and despite a setback against Arsenal, Hurzeler's men claimed wins against Sunderland, Liverpool and Burnley. A last gasp Georginio Rutter goal salvaged a 2-2 draw against Tottenham, before 3-0 wins against Chelsea and Wolves took the club from 14th in the league - with fears of relegation - to 6th place.

Despite tough losses in the final two games to Leeds and Manchester United, Brighton had held on to 8th - and more importantly - European footActi

Pascal Groß and Lewis Dunk's key impact

The return of Pascal Groß in January, and Brighton's rise in form a month later is no coincidence.

Having left Brighton to go back to his home country, the German midfielder began raising the standards on his reunion with the club, an event which seemed to motivate the rest of the squad.

Together, his leadership along with captain Lewis Dunk set an example to the young squad, and instilled belief and confidence, leading to improved performances and helping contribute to keeping their manager in the role.

What these awards mean

These awards may just be for this month's top performances from all three men, however they each carry a deeper meaning behind them. They show the resilience, the progress and the journey that they have been through in the last eight months, how they've gone from terrible performances and losses, to now sitting 3rd in the league and beating the current champions. Scoring goals and grabbing assists for fun, and winning games without fear.

Winning these awards shows that this could be an amazing season for the Albion, with no ceiling of expectation and amazing entertainment throughout.

Congratulations to Pascal Groß, Fabian Hurzeler, and Lewis Dunk. You've earned it, and we look forward to seeing your names on these awards in the fAc
