As Carlos Baleba’s standout form fuels Premier League transfer rumours, a cryptic social media post has fans dreaming. However, the truth likely reflects his resurgence within Brighton’s squad.
Carlos Baleba was a standout performer as Albion beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 in a vital fixture for European football.
For a long time, Baleba has had a lot of criticism, mostly due to the fact of his links with a move to Manchester United for £80 million/£100 million. While the figures always sound crazy in the headlines, sometimes it’s best to zoom in.
Manchester United fans have found themselves looking at Baleba’s recent post on social media. On his Instagram feed reads: “It’s better that it takes longer, than it never happening”.
Of course using the hashtag.. #areyouabaleba?
While it can be fun to get drawn into media talk, it does seem like this post is done by an admin. With that said, most Albion fans initially believed this to be aimed towards Brighton’s turn in form. For many months of the season, Fabian Hürzeler has been questioned by the fans.
Even the players who have been in and out of the team would have something to do with this. The likes of Georginio Rutter, Joel Veltman, Yankuba Minteh, and Carlos Baleba have all spent periods out of the side. None as many as Baleba!
His return to the side has been very welcome. In his last two games against Newcastle and Wolves, he has been the standout Albion player on the pitch. His performance against Wolves was the notable one of the two, filling half spaces, breaking up play and making the midfield work look easy. We haven’t seen enough of this season, it’s safe to say.
The turn in his performances must be linked to his expulsion from the side in place of James Milner.
The 40-year-old was playing some fantastic games for Albion, and even surpassed the all-time Premier League appearance record in the process. It wasn’t just a gimmick; Milner was by far one of the best players on the pitch during his time in the side. It feels like the addition of his professionalism has raised the standard of the younger players a touch.
While Baleba could still end up at Manchester United this summer, the post doesn’t seem to link to this on face value. Instead, the rise in form and re emergence I. The side would align much more.
When a player of Baleba’s combined physical and technical abilities is available for a side pushing for Europe, it’s hard to not be excited for Brighton fans!
