Chelsea advanced to the FA Cup semifinals in dominant fashion, defeating Port Vale of England's third division 7-0.
Port Vale's heroic run to the FA Cup quarterfinals came to an abrupt end at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea routed them 7-0.
Jorrel Hato put Chelsea ahead in just two minutes, beginning a dominant display that would last until the final whistle. Joao Pedro and an own goal from Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel shaped a 3-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Liam Rosenior's side -- fielding mostly starters with Enzo Fernandez suspended -- maintained their scoring pace through Tosin Adarabioyo, Andrey Santos, and Estevao. Alejandro Garnacho added the seventh late on.
Estevao was named the match's MVP, at least according to FotMob, which awarded him a 9.3 out of 10 rating for his goal and assist. Andrey Santos (8.4), Jorrel Hato (8.4), Tosin Adarabioyo (8.3), and Joao Pedro (8.0) also stood out, according to the statistics platform. Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo did not see any minutes.
Chelsea and Manchester City -- who routed Liverpool 4-0 in their quarterfinal -- are the first two teams through to the FA Cup semifinals, a primary objective for both clubs for the remainder of their respective seasons.
This Saturday features Southampton vs. Arsenal, and Sunday brings West Ham vs. Leeds United to determine the other two semifinalists.
Up next, Chelsea will host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, April 12, in the Premier League, before hosting Manchester United on April 18.
