Another coach who already had his run at Chelsea and won big trophies wants to come back to the Stamford Bridge bench. In London, they're waiting for him — ready to go all in once his current adventure ends.
It was known that as soon as Liam Rosenior’s departure as Chelsea coach was reported, names would start flying around. Chelsea’s bench is very strong, and the squad is highly recoverable, so managing the club at Stamford Bridge is tempting for many coaches. With the dismissal confirmed, the focus fell on two people: Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis. However, the board’s stance would be different.
From Chelsea’s upper management, they want to take their time to define Rosenior’s replacement, see how some pieces move, and then choose calmly and precisely. In that context, Chelsea has information that Antonio Conte could leave Napoli.
The Italian coach is not satisfied with Napoli’s sporting project and would only continue if there is heavy investment to improve the team; otherwise, the story will end. And knowing that, Chelsea wants to push a little more.
According to various media close to Chelsea, Antonio Conte is a priority target for the club and would compete with one or two other coaches on a short list to take over the team. Conte’s contract runs until June 2027, but his departure could be accelerated for sporting reasons.
With that scenario, Chelsea has already sounded out Conte’s situation and would look to go after him within a few weeks, when the competitions are over. The Italian already had a stint at Chelsea, winning one FA Cup and one Premier League.
From the board’s perspective, Conte has personality, works physically with the players, and is capable of controlling a complicated locker room like Chelsea’s. In London, they are waiting for his departure from Napoli to then go after him with everything.
Without a doubt, it will be an interesting summer transfer window, as it is important to remember that, in addition to Conte, the club also has its eyes on Bournemouth’s head coach, Iraola, who has done an excellent job with the club despite the limitations in terms of squad he has compared to other teams.
Additionally, it is said that they would also be interested in bringing back one of Stamford Bridge’s favorites, Cesc Fabregas, who currently has Como in sixth place in Serie A, with a great chance to qualify for the next edition of the Champions League. Excellent for a team that was promoted to the first division two years ago.
