The agent of a Chelsea first team player has made some strong comments regarding the future of his client and what it could mean moving forwards.

You would have to be a fool to not have noticed that Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez would prefer to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Before now, there hadn't been any clear cut statement, but the amount of reports in the media, and often from reputable and high profile sources, showed it could not be fake news.

Plus, you had the interviews from the player himself, saying "let's see" about his future, and how he would love to live in Madrid, as it reminds him of his home town, Buenos Aires.

Still, the player himself had not said the words "I want to leave", so until then, people had held out some hope. However, whilst he still has not said as much himself, his agent now has.

Indeed so. Javier Pastore, who you may remember from his playing career at the likes of PSG, told Spanish media outlet MARCA: "We are looking at options to leave Chelsea."

There is a pretty decent chance that Fernandez is speaking through his agent, he clearly will not be oblivious to that statement, and he's fooling nobody if he suggests anything otherwise.

Meanwhile, Pastore also said, when asked if the player likes Madrid (as a City): "Who doesn't love Madrid? I did not even play there but I live there now. His friend Julian Alvarez is also there. They spend all their free time together."

Well, there you go. Surely, any self respecting Chelsea fan would rather the club just cashed in and moved on. A wantaway player with clear physical flaws wants out - why would you keep him?

Especially when you can get a good fee. Anything close to the £106m or so they paid to Benfica back in January of 2023 would be pretty useful, and can help get Xabi Alonso the players he wants in the transfer market.

Although it looks as if he isn't going to sign after all, the bid for Sunderland midfielder Granit Xhaka is surely evidence that the club are not planning to build the team with Fernandez in it next season. Those two would likely not have played in the same XI together.

Whatever happens, let's hope this gets resolved asap. Although the World Cup will probably delay things either way, so let's see. Most fans are just very bored of the saga at this point, and want it to end. Time to move on, if we are being totally honest. New chapter. New era. The Alonso era. Let's see.
