Beset by incessant rumors about his future, Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola moved to calm the waters, saying he will not rush a decision.
Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United keep knocking on Bournemouth's door to ask about their coach, Andoni Iraola, who has established himself as one of the most attractive managers before the summer 2026 transfer window.
However, given the constant rumors linking the coach to one team or another, he had to come out and state that he would not make the decision hastily and that he would still not reveal his next destination.
"I am in no hurry. I am focused on finishing the season with a reward for the players and the Bournemouth fans," the coach said. His team currently sits in sixth place in the Premier League with 55 points, and their chances of qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League are high.
The team has two ways to qualify: first, finishing among the top five positions in the Premier League. The fifth place is currently held by Aston Villa with 59 points, that is, 4 more than Bournemouth, so a combination of results could allow Iraola's team to directly qualify for the world’s most important club competition.
The other method would be to finish the season in sixth place (the position they currently hold), for Aston Villa to finish among the top five in the Premier League, and for them to be crowned champions of the Europa League (a competition in which they just qualified for the grand final).
If that happens, Aston Villa’s Champions League spot for being among the top five would automatically pass to the sixth-place team, because Villa would already have their participation secured by winning the Europa League.
Whether the club qualifies for the Champions League or the Europa League, either scenario would be historic for Bournemouth, which so far has only had the opportunity to play in the Conference League.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, but once made, you feel relief,” Iraola said. “We managed it well: since then, we have gotten good results, and the atmosphere has improved. We all have clear ideas, and the relationship is honest. Everyone knows that Marco Rose will be our coach next season. We are in a good position, and we can take advantage of this in a positive way,” he concluded in relation to his departure from the club.
