After constant criticism from fans and former players toward Chelsea, interim coach Calum McFarlane had to defend his team.

The most recent results of Chelsea only show the sad reality the club is living in at the end of the season. With 6 losses in their last 7 matches, the club has become a target of criticism, both from its own fans and from former players who have taken it upon themselves to mercilessly attack the board and the players' performance. Among them, Jamie Carragher labeled the team a “club in crisis” and “crumbling.”

Because of this, interim coach Calum McFarlane did not take long to speak out, denying all kinds of rumors about the team. Clarifying that the players are more committed than ever, training day after day to change the direction of the institution. Is it true?

“We have already analyzed it. I have not seen fights, disagreements, or anything out of the ordinary. They are elite players who have gotten here because of their talent, mindset, and drive. We just have to bring it out,” he said.

“You don’t get to play at a club of this level or for the national teams these boys play for if you don’t have that. It’s simply about supporting them and doing everything we can as a coaching staff, giving them everything they need to go out on the field and perform,” he concluded.

Chelsea managed to rescue a draw on Saturday when they visited Anfield for matchday 36 of the Premier League. Enzo Fernandez was the one who scored for the Blues in a very even match, in which both teams suffered disallowed goals and shots off the post.

With this result, the team remains in ninth position with 49 points, with no mathematical chances of directly qualifying for the next edition of the Champions League. They are 6 points behind sixth place, currently occupied by Bournemouth, who won their last match and are strengthening that position.

With only two matchdays left to play (6 points), the chances of Chelsea finishing the season in sixth place, which would still allow them to qualify for the Champions League with a combination of results, are almost nonexistent.

They would have to win both matches and hope that Bournemouth, Brighton, and Brentford lose both of theirs, which is extremely difficult. So Chelsea could play in the Europa League or Conference League next season (or neither).
