The Athletic have provided Chelsea fans with a detailed update on what could possibly be expected in this summer's transfer window ahead of next season
It is very cliche, but this feels like a huge summer transfer window for Chelsea.
Having failed to secure European football of any note last season, there really is no excuse not to attack the Premier League and both cup competitions, with the club on an eight year domestic trophy drought.
However, it is clear that signings will be needed in order to try and achieve things next season. It is important that the club back new manager Xabi Alonso in the transfer market. It will certainly be interesting to see who the club will be targeting.
Well, we could have an idea. Indeed, as The Athletic have provided a detailed update regarding Chelsea's plans for the summer. In this piece, we will go over every update given.
To begin, they report that Chelsea are looking for a "minimum" of two ready made signings who can slot straight into the XI. The word minimum is pretty handy there, as it feels like more than that would be needed.
They mention that, because there is only one game a week, the club are not looking to make "too many signings" but a central defender and a versatile attacker are being targeted.
Meanwhile, they state that Chelsea have "at least ten" specific names on their wishlist. One of whom is Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa. Earlier on in the article, they mention that he is expected to leave Villa this summer, but they also say that there is plenty of interest from elsewhere, including Arsenal.
Elsewhere, it is said that the club have made a "gentle enquiry" into the situation of Ibrahima Konate, who is leaving Liverpool as a free agent after five years on Merseyside. That would be a very smart addition - at 28 he is a very experienced player who has played in huge games for club and country, whilst still being a player with a few years of his prime left.
In terms of outgoings, they report that the future of Marc Cucurella remains "uncertain", whilst Enzo Fernandez has not been placed on the list of players definitely not for sale. Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson could well stay for next season, with it being down to him or Liam Delap as to who stays and who goes.
Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has asked to leave in order to get more game time elsewhere, and his "wish will be granted". Whilst Mike Penders, who will join the group this summer after a productive loan at RC Strasbourg, will challenge Robert Sanchez for the number one role.
So, that is the cut and thrust of the most important reports. Certainly shapes up to be a very interesting summer, for better or worse.
