Today, Friday the 19th of June 2026, Chelsea, and everyone else in the league, found out their schedule for the forthcoming 26/27 Premier League season
Although the attention of most, and probably all, is on this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, today - Friday the 19th of June 2026 - Chelsea and all other 19 Premier League clubs were made away of the fixture list for the 26/27 Premier League season.
Whilst some people aren’t too fussed about the fixtures, given everyone plays everyone twice, it is still interesting to look at key games and when they fall during the season.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the most notable fixtures for Chelsea in the 26/27 season.
To begin, the Blues will open their season with a short trip across West London to face Fulham at Craven Cottage, for Xabi Alonso's first competitive game in charge of the team. This game will be played on Monday, the 24th of August as part of Sky Sports' Monday Night Football coverage. We will see Alonso interviewed by his former team mate Jamie Carragher that evening.
Meanwhile, the first home game of the season will be on the 29th at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. However, that will almost certainly change to the Sunday, as Chelsea will have a rare Carabao Cup second round clash in between those opening two games.
The first game against a 'big six' team will come away to Arsenal on Saturday the 5th of September, though naturally that could be moved to the Sunday, let's wait and see on that.
As for newly promoted teams, the first showdown will come at home to Hull City on match day four. This will be the first league fixture between the two sides since January of 20167, a 2-0 win for Chelsea that saw Ryan Mason suffer a career ending injury. Diego Costa and Gary Cahill scored the goals that day.
The next game against a newly promoted team will be an emotional day, as the Blues take on Frank Lampard's Coventry City on Boxing Day. His return to the Bridge is currently scheduled for the 3rd of March. Meanwhile, the third game against promoted sides will be just three days after the Coventry clash, with a trip to Portman Road to face Ipswich on the 29th of December.
Elsewhere, the end of October will be very exciting, with back to back games at home to Spurs and Manchester United currently scheduled for the 24th and 31st respectively.
