According to a number of high level and high profile reports, Chelsea are planning to try and offload this first team player during the summer transfer window
Most people are currently focused on this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. However, amidst the chaos is a huge summer window for Chelsea under new manager Xabi Alonso.
It is important that the club give the gaffer who he wants (within reason), to allow him to build his own dynasty like he did at Bayer Leverkusen, and wasn't allowed to do at Real Madrid. If they are not careful, things will look closer to the latter than former.
Well, in order to bring players in, players also have to go out. That's how it works. So, it will be interesting to see who the club try and get rid of this summer. Based on how bad last season was, most fans would be happy for the majority of the first team to be sold.
Still, that is not quite realistic. Nevertheless, there are still some players that you hope the club can cash in on and use for the rebuild. Well, one of those players may well be winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Despite only joining the club from Manchester United a year ago, it is being reported by Fabrizio Romano that Chelsea are looking to sell the 22-year old this summer. He states that the club want £45m to sell within the league, and 50 million Euros (so around 42.5m pounds) to sell abroad.
He also states that the player is currently not training under Alonso whilst the club try and sort out his exit, the biggest insinuation yet that he has no future at Stamford Bridge.
Now, what makes this particularly interesting is that last summer, it was suggested that one of the reasons why United sold Garnacho is that they were playing 343 under then manager Ruben Amorim, and as a winger, the Argentine international did not fit in.
So, could this be implying that Chelsea will play 343 under Alonso next season? It is not like the club have many left wingers to choose from if they were to play a four at the back, so it would perhaps be a bit of a surprise if they were so willing to sell Garnacho with a back four in mind, but let's wait and see.
Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs reports that he is drawing interest from England, Italy and Saudi Arabia. Kieran Gill states that Chelsea's number 49 is unhappy with his game time, having started just one of the final twelve games of last season.
